Western Union?

Hey Guys,
Ever since my PP got locked, I've been trying to hunt for other methods of receiving money. I'm looking into Western Union and was wondering what the exact process was? All I know is that we just go to a store that provides WU transactions, but what else is there to it? What do we provide them? What information do we provide the buyers in terms of location? I'm just wondering what the process was to WU. I know I sound like a n00b for asking this, but I figured that I might as well do it haha. Thanks in advance!

If you're looking for a method to receive money, I'd highly advise bitcoin. It cannot be chargedback. Despite the price fluctuating a bit here and there, it's generally stable and is the safest means of accepting money.

Yeah, I read that FAQ without a doubt, I was just wondering if someone who's done it before you could explain the process to me in layman's terms.. or in their perspective at least. It will help me provide a better understanding on the pros and cons of using this method.

When they send money, they'll get a "MTCN" or something along the lines of "Money Transaction Number". They'll give you the MTCN, you go into WU, tell them the MTCN and I believe you also need the senders name aswell.

Thanks for the response! Does the sender also provide the location of the WU the receiver will be collecting at, whether it be at the specific state or at a specific local store, or is it basically a free-for-all?

 

Depending on the senders country you will need to provide your first name, surname, city, state and country. The sender will then send the money either online or in store, to collect it you will need to know the senders first name, surname, country, the MTCN and amount sent (Either the foreign or local currency, it doesn't matter).

You will be able to collect it anywhere within the city it was sent to. You will also need to provide ID to the store employee.

I, and many other non-chinese gold sellers, have been banned from WU just because we sent too much out and they thought we were laundering money. The chinese seem to be immune though

For me maybe about a year but that was from the day we started selling gold. After that Jessica made an account and that got banned in maybe a month.

 

Invest in bitcoin, it's very easy to convert it to currency and safe to use.

Thank you for the response! I personally haven't tried making an account yet, so is the account making process a while like PayPal in order to verify everything?

 

You don't need an account to receive money. You only need to create an account if you are sending money online. All you need is your government ID.

Bank transfer is another option and you don't need to go to a store personally, but it's not as fast.

 

Ive been receiving W/U payments for the last couple of years now. The best advice i can give you is to avoid Amscot. They have seasoned employee's and tend to ask questions. If they dont like what they here they wont cash it or make you provide evidence of what you are selling etc. I find going to local grocery stores the best method. They employee teenagers who dont give two fucks and never ask me questions. Ive probably received 25-30k in the past few years total. Ive never been banned but had red flags go up when dealing with Amscot. I love receiving w/u over any other payment due to it being damn near instant.

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely be on the look out for Amscot. If they do ask questions, what do you usually say the money that you are receiving is for? Are they uptight about virtual gold transactions? What evidence would I be providing them, a skype conversation?

Idk what Amscot is, I don't think we have it in the UK The issue was with sending too much, not receiving.

I was under the impression that they don't care, I never got asked what it was for when receiving, I got asked what it was for once when sending and I told the truth and she didn't seem to care, they just like to make sure you're confident that you aren't getting scammed.

 

I probably used WU for around $20-30K in trades when I sold gold. It was basically my only payment option (aside BT for locals). I was never once asked what the payment was for/from - provided the amount was under $1,000 (per transaction).

Similar to what Hattez said; most of the WU agents don't care, and won't ask anything. As long as you provide the required documentation, correct MTCN and other required information, you're golden.

P.S, I went to the same WU 9 out of 10 times, never once was I asked the origin of said funds.
