2015 MLB Season Discussion Thread

Astros won 2-0 on Monday against the Indians here in Houston at Minute Maid Park. Dallas Keuchel pitched a shutout game through 7 innings, and our closer pitched a shutout final two. The first run was scored after a base hit to first by Altuve, then a steal to second by Altuve, then an outfield grounder (RBI) by Springer, resulting in Altuve scoring the run. The second score was on a sac fly in the 7th (I think?)..

Astros play the Indians again today, and I think if Feldman can keep his pitches tight and avoid a high pitch count early in the game, the Astros offense should be able to out perform the Indians in the long run.

DISCUSS ALL THINGS ASTROS OR ANYTHING ELSE MLB!!

Also: Everybody in the AL West besides has played 2 games and every single one of them is (1-1) meaning that if the Astros can get another W, we will be #1 in our division with a (2-0) record and +1 game lead. Astros in first?? HOW!??!

 

Athletics are horrible.

Only bright spot is Sonny Gray. Almost threw a no hitter last night on Opening Day. First pitcher in 62 yrs on opening day to give up only 1 hit.

 

Just gonna bring this up in case anyone else here on Sythe wants to discuss...

My money is on a Jays-Yanks ALCS, not so much that I think KC won't make it but more that the division rivalry in that series would be insane.

Don't really watch the NL that much but NL Central seems to be tearing it up, would not be surprised at all for an all-central NLCS.

But hey, there's a lot of baseball left to play, a lot can happen. The 1 game wildcard series could potentially throw a lot of teams into the mix.

 

Astros still pushing for the playoffs which they currently are in sitting at #1. Happy with the 9-10 loss tonight after being down by more than a handful before the 7th. Shows that our players won't give up, even against a last place team.

As for ALCS, I like the Jays a lot, not going to say who they are going to be playing against just yet, though I hope its the Stros.

 

Damn, that push seems like nothing compared to that crazy Mets-Nats game tonight...nearly shat myself and even as a Jays fan not caring about the NL it was a crazy game to watch.

Stros definitely deserve some success after all the shit they've been through for the past few seasons...then again I could say the same about the Jays so here's to hoping they don't bump until the ALCS

 

Rip, Jays loss/KC win/Yanks win in one night. Pulls us further away from AL lead and closer to the WC....

Fangraphs reassures me but struggling so hard against even the lowly Braves I can't help but let a bit of doubt creep into my mind

 

Jays r the best team in baseball right now Royals will put up a fight but can't see anyone except a team from the national league like St Louis or Pirates having a chance against them in a playoff series.

 

Yankees playing in form can also have a shot at taking us down (e.g. tonight... )


Gotta clinch the division first before we talk about our playoff matchups, don't really like the randomness of the 1-game WC (10 is the magic number now! a win tomorrow makes it 8 leggoooo)

 

Blue Jays clinch AL East first time since 1993 hopefully they can end the drought in Toronto Sports and bring home the ship.

 

A record of 42-16 ever since being below .500 at 50-51, just insane. Hard to believe a team could turn around so fast, hopefully they can grind out the last few games and take the AL. With my money on the Yankees to take the wildcard game, the Jays have handled them pretty easily this season so that would be a pretty good matchup to book their tickets to the ALCS

 

Fuck everything. All the series at 1-1 except the jays down 2-0...

Astros win at home. Series is 2-1 Astros have the lead. Was at the game, lots and lots of fans. PACKED stadium. LETS GO STROS LETS WIN THE SERIES TOMORROW.

 

Not thinking about anything too far in advance yet. Down in such a big hole, I'm sure the players as well as the fans are taking things 1 game, 1 inning at a time.

Stros are an exciting team to watch, if Jays get knocked out I'm pulling for them - what a turnaround from the past few seasons

(although my NL team to root for is understandably the Cubs - 100+ years without a WS championship is insane)

 

All I gotta say is the Royals are gonna win on Wednesday without a doubt.

 

Same with the Jays.

Blue Jays are beast mode right now there batting is sooo fucking good when it plays to it's standard let's go game 5 tomorrow end the Toronto curse! no more first round exits!

 

Cards out will make things interesting. Hopefully the home team can take one tomorrow for the Jays, it hasn't been looking good this season for us with the roof of the Skydome closed but we have hurt lefties like Hamels hard in the past. Coming in with momentum should help us at well, will be an exciting game for sure
