Pest control any good?

Hey, I started an obby mauler 3 days ago (http://puu.sh/kDjYl/58b1f06925.png) and I wanna start doing pest control as soon as I hit level 40. Is it any good for pures?

 

Any good as in what? fast? Yeah, w44 has regular boats. Not great, but most of the time they (and the bots) get the job done

 

Pest control is not very good for xp at all (especially using the novice boat) - it's only worth it for void. You're much better off training at rock crabs.

 

Do not use pest control for training stats, just for void. You will waste your time!

 

I dont want to train HP because my account will be ruined and pest control u can do without HP. How much xp per hour would it be for a skill lvl 72+? It cant be much worse than doing rock crabs as an obby mauler without a slayer staff.

 

If you don't want hp xp then there's only a few options: barb fishing, handfishing, and PC (I think the blast furnace pump was nerfed). Of those, pest control is probably your best bet. Probably around 10k/hr with PC and 15k/hr training with a maul/zerker necklace.

That's way better than what you'll be getting from PC then - I read from someone who trained in novice boat that you get ~20k/hr from points only when the skill is in the very high 90s (like 97 or 98+). Any particular reason why you don't want to train HP? I've always thought having an extremely high hp level for their combat was a major advantage..

 

Likely for rushing by speccing. Get high hits for such a low level and can easily down people.

But if you're averaging 21k/hr, I'd stick with that. That is pretty good exp considering what you're trying to do.

 

I want to have 99 str at level 48 instead of 58. This is me pre-eoc lvl 99 str and 48 combat pking. Did soul wars for my xp.

Getting 99 str with PC will leave you brain dead, especially as an obby maul pure.

 

You should try barbarian fishing out instead it's way more relaxing then pest control, but way slower.

 

Get void. It's worth it in anything you wanna do with that account.

 

To train and not get any HP EXP, I guess PC would be your best option. I'm sure it'd get tiring quick, though.

 

Maybe I can do it with HP then just train a lot of Range as well to make up for the extra levels.

 

If you level range too high like 55 - 60 you'll become range based and gain bunch of unnecessary combat levels, find a Oldschool combat calculator and calculate at what level your account is gonna be range based.

 

I'd stay away from Pest Control, very long and slow exp.

 

I'll still be melee based eventually with 99 str. I used to have 99 strength and 60 range at level 48. Now with HP I'll be 58 so I can train maybe around 75 range. I'll definitely have to calculate that, thanks for the tip.

 

With 99 str you can have 66 or 67 range and still have a balanced account build (atk+str=1.5*range). Also definitely look into investing into getting a slayer's staff if you're looking to train this far.

 

Yeah that looks about right. HP will probs be around what is mentioned here so yeah. As for the slayer staff if I find a better place to train that is AFK I'll get it, if not I'll stay here because most of the time I'm killing them and waiting for respawn. (2 crabs at Waterbirth)
