Maybe for a little promotion of "look at us, we're helping" they might give you a hand. Failing that fundraising might have to come into play but kickstarting a fundraiser isn't cheap and I imagine you're looking to keep this as cheap as possible.
Good idea, i'm actually going to contact the magazines here, and ask ahead of time if they would put it as a story so that companies will come and help.
Bump, I have another 2 hotels behind my back. Just need to start panning, im researching every day but im just interested what Sythe can come up with.
you should register yourself as a charity maybe so you can have more of a real backbone for people to consider supporting you. i think the hotels would look at it like a lot of work seperating the bars and bottles into different bags or boxes aside from just throwing it out. it could be done if people aren't scums of the earth and i suppose if you get hotels to support you that's just adding more potential to your organization. goodluck
"you should register yourself as a charity maybe so you can have more of a real backbone for people to consider supporting you." How?
Try contacting other groups, aside from hotels. Great start there, but maybe branch out. I can't think of any initially, but maybe some stores who have an excess of cheap canned foods. Any groups that have a large quantity of unused clothing? I used to volunteer for Sack's Hospice, and I'd be working in the thrift store a lot. We had HUGE influxes of clothing at all times of the year, and couldn't sort through and put it on our shelves fast enough. So what we would do is contact non profits that helped the homeless and donate trash bags full of random clothing, just to lessen the load. You may want to try organizations like that bud.
