Do you speak multiple languages?

Why russian? lol

 

Both have the similar appeal for a guttural and unique sound. Russian was one of my college's most popular language classes. When I was in ROTC, the POC got paid stipends for taking language classes, and all but me took Russian together. I went with Chinese and deeply regret it.

 

Why did you think Chinese was worth it at the time and why not now?

 

At the time I was 1) getting paid by ROTC and 2) had a computer science degree.

I've since been medically disqualified from USAF, so no money, and have switched my degree to business administration because CS wasn't offered online. I'll go back and finish my CS degree in a few years, my credits never expire, but I live in Florida now so I need to do a degree that allows online classes.

 

I'm going to start learning Japanese and Spanish. Spanish for the irl benefit, Japanese because I like it.

 

I have a management degree already, how long does it take to get a CS degree after that?

 

I'm a senior standing, it was just unfortunate that the senior classes are required to be taken on campus. So whenever I decide to finish my CS degree, I just have to take another 9 months of classes on campus.

Our CS degrees are 5-year degrees in total, if you don't already have your AA. Online business admin is a 3 year degree

no.. i hate people from different countrries that speak a different language in front of you.

 

i'm trilingual... i speak english and the other 2 are languages from the pacific islands - pohnpeian and chuukese. there are literally no formal books on either of these languages and only ~50,000 speakers of each worldwide. i learned both while living as a missionary in the micronesian islands for 2 years. i spoke both fluently and could read and write.

pohnpeian: kaslehlie! met i men intingda mahsen akan ong kumwail oh kaslehiong kumwail me i ese pil ehu lokaia. i sohte likamw. (hello, i wish to write a few words to you all to show you that i know another language, and i lie not)

chuukese: ran annim ami, sefan ua pwan mochen apasata ngeni kemi pwe ua sinei pwan eu fos. ira, ouse sinei met uachok erenekemi, mi och. (hello all, again i also wish to say to you all that i know another language. although, you guys dont know what i'm saying, it's cool.)


while i was over in micronesia i also learned some basic chamorro (the native language of guam) and also some basic tagalog (language of the phillipines. i probably know about ~200 words in each. language learning opened my eyes man.

Welsh (useless language but since I'm Welsh, had to learn it), Spanish (grew up in LA lol), Afrikaans (Half South-African), fluent Italian. Some words in other languages but those are the main ones.

I really want to learn Japanese & Mandarin though (I'll accept Cantonese)

 

I'm only fluent in english, though I can stumble my way around spanish, french, and dutch speaking countries.

 

I can speak english and dutch fluently since my native language is dutch and I'm studying to become an english teacher. I will start a course japanese for beginners soon though.

Only English. I wish my parents put me through french school so I would have turned out bilingual.
