    Starting To Hit The Gym

So, my roommate and myself are going to start hitting the gym 3 days a week minimum. Only 3 days because it is what our schedules allow because of work, and if we can work a 4th day in we will. He is an experienced lifter with years of training and sports workouts and I'm a nerd with no training. He is starting a schedule for us both and we are working on a balance between bulk and strength. I'm excited about and he is a good teacher. We're doing post work-out protein shakes and another co-worker recommended some creatine. I plan on picking up my own whey, creatine, some noopept just because, and I was wondering if there was anything else you guys would recommend to a beginner in general?

    Supplements wise you're good.

If he is quite experienced, make sure he teaches you all of the PROPER FORM. It is important that you lift correctly, so that you can continue lifting down the road and not suffer from an injury right off the bat.

Night number two was good. Got backs and shoulders in and I felt the burn for sure. Hitting day three tomorrow after work probably.

Curious do you feel much benefit from the use of the noopept? Have you had any experience with other nootropics? How often do you take it?

I've yet to order it, so I haven't got to experience it yet. Just got paid yesterday.

I'd be curious to hear your opinion of it once you try it a few times. I've got some and I don't think it's necessarily as miraculous as some make it out to be. I only rarely use it though (last time I used it was morning of an exam)

Leg and core day. Core presented some problems because my lower back started hurting and prevented me from doing some exercises.

    I wouldn't take poopept, I take vitamins/fish oil/co-enzym q10 instead.
Good luck with your gains, I bet you'll get addicted to lifting too ;)

To a beginner, work on doing things right over doing things heavy. What I mean is good form. E.G 10 reps of good form (Lower weight) on a bench press is better than 2 reps of bad form with a slightly higher weight. Increase as you go, ensuring good form at all times.

Never liked gyms, usually stick to push ups and sit ups as nothing beats intense passive buildup and pure strength.

Performing compound movements with heavy weight will give you pure strength a lot faster than calesthenics

Two important takeaways for a beginner. The first is having good form; ensuring you are doing the exercise properly. When you first workout you'll obviously be very weak, and part of the initial strength growth will primarily be neural, as you're body understand what the action is. At lower weights, you can easily get away with poor form, but as you progress, in some instances, not only will your progress be relatively slower owing to poor form, but it can also lead to injury. Re-correcting poor form also takes some time since you're body/brain is so use to that poor form. Thus, for a beginner it is important to ensure your form is good, and that when moving up weights (you will move up the rack very quickly as a beginner), that you maintain good form. The second is simply diet. You simply have to eat more is the basic principle. Too often I see people quite strong, but still skinny; these people do not eat. Ensure you eat enough otherwise you are unnecessarily wasting your effort.

I think the most important aspect is to keep a healthy diet, and be consistent with your fitness.

The main thing I would suggest is eat atleast 500 more calories than you
currently do if not more, and never skip leg day :D Best of luck
