If you are responsible for your MSN, make Annex pay it back.

First of all, nobody bitch at me because I'm supposed to be retired. I don't post anymore, but I can't help it when somebody messages me on MSN and tells me that Annex scammed, or someone used his MSN with a spoof program to scam.

After hearing this, I noticed a sticky in Community General saying "YOU are responsible for your MSN." The long and short of it was that if your MSN address is hacked or manipulated to scam, then it is YOUR responsibility, and you have to either pay back the person who was scammed, or face a ban.

Now, please tell me, how can this apply to regular users, but not to Annex? Annex fully knew the risks of leaving his MSN online while he was gone, whether his account was trained or not. This is proven by the announcement he made on the forum WARNING PEOPLE of a new scam that could be carried out using a spoofing program while you are AFK.

So, I say this: Make Annex pay back the person who was scammed, because HE is responsible for his own MSN.

Hmm.. this seems fair, but unfair.

it has got to a point that you cant even leve your messenger signed in whiele your AFK for even 10 miniuites, i dont think annex should have to pay back those who were scammed tho, even tho it's his responsability.

if he knew this was happening whiele he was on MSN, he would have stopped it. so now he knows, he can just click appear offline. unless he did know this was happening, and he did'nt stop it, only then should he pay.

He was fully aware that someone was using this type of scam, yet he risked leaving his msn afk for a long period of time regardless- it was his own fault.

Wrong, a spoof using imitation is not his fault, it's called, PMing the person, or at least checking MSN logs. People have tried to imitate me WHILE I'm MMing, and I was forced to repeatedly type "NO NO NO NO " just to get the message across, and they still weren't convinced. It's not our fault some people are (dim)-witted.

Yes, you typed "NO NO NO NO" - Annex did not. He left his msn Afk when he KNEW that people were scamming that way. It was his responsibility. If it's a rule for everyone else, it should apply to him.

Why does everyone have to make a big deal of Admins' MSN?

If you are responsible for your MSN, make Annex pay it back.

If you're not there, you must make it clear, either through your status, or your description.

It's as bad to be hacked as to have people abusing your MSN while you're away - in both cases, the trader sees your MSN in the convo, and has reasonable expectation to believe they're trading with the real MM. Yes, they should have asked for a PM - but, that's not yet a requirement for trading. (Hell, I normally wouldn't even ask for a PM, as long as I know the addy is right.)

In the end, this is as much about protecting Sythe users from being scammed as preventing scamming MM's from using the excuse that it wasn't them. Sythe shouldnt allow, "I wasn't really there, it was actually a spoof" to become a valid excuse.

At the very least, this really should never happen again - and probably shouldnt have happened for a second, or third time like it already has.

Yakov, I thought you don't accept chat logs as proof?

The vid is blurry, we can't see a thing. A more lossy version?

Btw, chatlogs aren't accepted as proof on Sythe. Only screenshots, which is what the other guy had.
