The SMOK TFV4 sub-ohm tank looks pretty sick. Apparently it chucks some serious flavor and vapor.

Its a juice guzzler though, and takes some high wattage.

 

As a side note I'm completely done with RDA's. Sold off all but 3 for a couple hundred dollars to one person.

Sub-ohm tanks are catching up in terms of flavor, vapor production, and airflow. So much easier to just screw in a coilhead instead of building, cutting cotton, and then testing with an ohm meter. No worrying about leaking, and usually they're built specifically to be used with the coils they sell. I don't have to drip every few hits, etc. Overall just a better experience IMHO.

 

Well it really depends, when i'm home i'm just using plume veil rda but when im at work or out of home i have delta II for that shit.

Its not really hard to build it takes around 4mins to me build 0.3 dual coil to plume veil and sadly it still gives a lot more vapor than the sub ohm tanks

 

I don't know. I think you'd be shocked if you got a sub-ohm tank with a 0.3 dual coil and some great airflow.

No fussing with coils, no more juice on your hands or mod, no more dripping. I'd probably wager the experience would be pretty close.

 

The problem with this, is buying coils is more costly than rebuilding your own. THAT is the downside to your decision.

I'm a serious vape enthusiast. I have a collection of mods, rdas, tanks, batteries, chargers, tools, juices, etc.

The $20 for a 5 pack of coils that will last a week or two each isn't really putting me out there I'm sure I could get that price down as well with a group buy or something.

And nice, let me know how you like it. My local shop has an order coming in so I'm just waiting on that.

I've personally never bought one but I find it fun to vape because of the high amounts of smoke released (Lol)

Currently using the tri-coil @ .2 - Here's my review from the use for the evening.


All in all, flavor/vapor production still don't compare to an RDA. Could just be me, but it's still close. First couple hits, flavor was muted, but that's just nature of the beast with fresh wicking. I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes before firing it.

I ran it at 80w, 90w, 100w, and now sitting comfortably at 110w. The tank gets hot VERY fast, which is why I'm glad they implemented the double-walled drip tip. Makes a world of difference.

One thing that I can say, is running the .2 @ 110w, this tank obliterates batteries. I put in a fresh set, and ~3 hours later, my Sigelei was screaming at me to "Check Battery" - It wouldn't fire 110w at below 68% battery life (my RDA fires .3 down until about 48% @ 80w)

In the end, I don't feel this is a RDA replacement, but it's a VERY good alternative, and so far worth the price. I bought the full kit which came with the tri-coil, the single coil, and the RTA heads, plus some organic cotton. In the next couple days I'll likely break out the RTA head and give that a go, the stock pre-built coil sits at (I think) 1.0ohm, so I'll likely rebuild it pretty quickly, if I even use it at all.

Lastly, I would like to confirm what you've heard, the tank DRINKS away juice. You'll be refilling fairly often if you chain-vape but the top fill feature makes refilling painless. As for leaking, I've read some mixed reviews and I can say that so far - upon initial use - I have not experienced even a single drip of leakage.

I agree, sub-ohm tanks aren't QUITE there yet in terms of flavor and vapor production alone. That's why I used the term "catching up." But you are getting no more dripping, leaking, or coil building. Personally I can't stand getting juice all over my mod/hands, so its totally worth it for me. Hopefully in an iteration or two we'll get improved airflow, tank capacity, and coil heads, and it'll really be a really hard call.

Yeah, fresh wicking takes a few hours to be fully broken in. I usually prime the cotton with a bit of juice before even screwing it in. If there is adjustable airflow right around the drip tip I strongly recommend closing it off. It gives you a looser pull, but having air coming in right before hitting your mouth ruins a lot of flavor. Definitely try a few more days with it. Its always kind of awkward going between RDA's and sub-ohm tanks. Usually takes me a little while until one becomes 'normal' to me

Juice and battery aren't really cons I consider, though worth mentioning to most people who are paying $12/bottle or have 2 sets of batteries. DIY e-juice is costing me almost nothing, so I can throw together a 250ml batch for a few bucks. I have 2 chargers filled with 16 batteries, usually when I run out I take a handful and put them in my vape bag. With the magnetic backing on my mod it takes about 10 seconds to swap out a pair of batteries.

When I get mine in I'll try out the quad, and temp control coils.

The triple and quad coils are build completely differently. May be worth grabbing one to compare if they come into your local shop.

Put in the quad coil..... Batteries were reading at about 86%. I took a hit, looked at it, 85%. I'm like "this must be a coincidence...."

I hit it again... 84%....

I'm running at 70w.....

Edit: Let it sit a minute and hit it again, reading 87% again. All of my wut?
