    Help with my computer clock

So basically, everytime i close my laptop, turn it off, etc., the time resets to the last time I synced it. Example:

    > I sync my clock at 5pm on 9/8
    > I close my laptop around 8pm on 9/8 to go do something
    > I repon my laptop and login at 10pm on 9/8, but my clock displays like 5:15 or so.

This happens everytime, and I'm not sure why. Thoughts?

Sounds like a failing BIOS battery. If you're on a desktop then they're dead easy to replace, you can still do one on a laptop but it may be a bit of a fiddle as you'd have to open everything up usually.

    Laptop model?

I agree with Laptop, might be failing or might just need to be reset.

Can't do much without the model as you're likely going to need to be opening it up.

Flip your laptop over and see if there is any info on a sticker somewhere on the back. Or have a look at the receipt if you still have it.

Nope, nothing :L All I know is it had windows 8 initially haha. I guess I'll take it in soon and have someone take a look at it, and replace the battery, as that was what needed to be done?

This article should help you determine the model of your ASUS laptop: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/565/

It's really strange as the ASUS website is saying the model should be on a sticker on its back.

If you really can't figure out the model of the laptop you should at least try to unscrew the screws at the bottom of the laptop and see if you have easy access to the motherboard.

Yes... the CMOS battery, the small one that is attached to your motherboard, not the normal battery you use to charge the laptop.

I have a sticker, but it literally says "Asus" followed by "Windows 8" and that's it :L

@Laptop, thanks. Wrote that down on my phone for when I bring it in :)

I believe you need to take the CMOS battery out for a minute, and then put it back in. Those batteries normally last alot longer than 3 years.
