    Regarding the right to vanish

I agree this is a good policy, but I fail to understand how deleting and old, quoted post, stating my in-game username is a threat to the safety of our users. In fact, it's a direct threat to my account's safety.

I had to report this post four times before it was finally explained why my request wasn't being honoured as I, much like most other Sythe members, wasn't aware of this new policy.

There should be clearer guidelines to this policy, or at least publicized as none of us actually know what is and isn't honoured when requested..

I also believe we should look into these requests on a case-by-case basis. There are many legitimate reasons to have your older posts removed, those containing information that might lead to an in-game ban, for example.

I guess I'll make my feedback thread on this fairly soon. There are a few flaws in this policy to be honest.

What if you're in a situation like myself?

    http://www.sythe.org/vouches-forum/1406353-crumpeds-vouches-d.html
Here is a link to my vouch thread. You will notice that literally everyone that has posted except 2 recent people have been banned.

Did I play a part in them being banned? No.
Is this my fault they're banned? No.
Do I know why they were banned? No.

Yet it is massively effecting my abilities to buy and sell things with other players. Players are asking me for my vouch thread, seeing my list full of banned vouchers and then telling me they'll pass on the offer and that it looks suspicious.

Before they even get the link to my vouches thread I make sure I give them a heads up about banned users and I assure them it has nothing to do with me. They still will end up passing.

I was told by a moderator there's nothing that can be done and it shouldn't matter. Just because there are people on here that know it shouldn't matter, doesn't make it ok...

You have new members joining Sythe every single day, They aren't going to know how everything runs around here so their decisions will be based on what they see.

I'm tired of people passing on me not willing to do any sales or deals because of this, It is 100% unfair on me.

My reputation shouldn't be ruined or unable to grow due to a group of idiots that got themselves banned, I shouldn't be the one paying for it. Having a vouch list full of banned people is like having a TWC lol, people are suspicious as hell.

I could simply just make a new vouch thread noshit but that doesn't make my other one invisible.. Would probably just raise more questions and suspicions by making a new one.

Why would you be posting your full name on a public Runescape black market forum? There's no possible reason you would need to do that. That's what usernames are there for, a forum handle you go by so you don't need to show everyone who you really are.

If your friend is European he can request Google to remove the link from Google search. This won't remove it from Sythe, or from any other search engine, but a lot of other search engines rely heavily on Google for their ability to find content. It may be a good idea to look into it.

That only works for European Google web pages. Google.com for instance will still display it (although people are pushing Google to remove it from appearing in search engines altogether aside from just the European ones).

    Still, better than nothing.

There's nothing you can do about that. You can request to have the posts deleted but then you'd have to delete the quoted vouches too, as they wouldn't link to anything.

Also, people probably pass on trading with you because you have less than 10 vouches. Do some more legitimate trades to build up your vouch thread and you won't have to worry about it.

    Regarding the right to vanish

What about quoted posts that contain personal information? There is a post on sythe I would like edited (just one post, not all my posts deleted or anything silly) because it contains my personal skype that was posted online by a banned user without my express permission.

While I understand that sythe does not have to diddly, I would appreciate it, as the user who posted my personal information (against the rules) has clearly shown themselves to be untrusted and is already banned, so it would in no way harm the site or be hard, but would help me a great deal.

What is the step forward in this case? Breaking a sythe rule vs. a general policy?

P.S.: I have reported the post, and hope it gets resolved :)

    Edit: The rule in question:

Disclosure of Others' Personal Information: posting information such as private emails / MSNs, private Skype accounts, Facebook accounts, addresses, phone numbers, private photos, etc. of someone other than yourself without explicit consent of that person will result in up to a 1 month ban regardless of whether or not the information is publicly available.

    Finally! An explanation.

Before this post there were few users just circlejerking without any explained/understood reason for this policy. Also users talking about stuff they have no knowledge about. Did you know that in the EU google deletes stuff on request?

If the post was about allowing vanishing, the replies would have been exactly the same.

    Oh you guys.
