Claims account is hacked

Hey I sold this guy an account and he claims someone else hacked it. If he knows I didn't recov it then it makes me suspicious he's trying to scam someone? He wants me to recov it for him, but I don't want to help him scam. What should I do?

Edit: Somehow the email I gave him with the account is hacked too?

 

obviously he sold it to someone and now he is recovering it back.

my advice is to recover it... give it a while like 2 days,then search some of the big forums for the account name to see if there is any scam reports anywhere..

Its like finding a gold necklace on the floor, if nobody claims it within a specific period of time i think its ethical to do whatever u want with it

 

Yeah, it's not possible for a account AND email to just "get hacked." He gave someone the info and I can only assume it was a transaction. Thinking to just leave it as is.

 

If you can't prove that he did resell the account after doing some research, then you're obligated to help him recover it.

No offense, but this sounds like you're the one who hacked the account. Giving away an email associated with the account at purchase is pointless and nothing more than pseudo-assurance. All it takes is 1 recovery, and the email is no longer useful. You could've easily took the email back, and from there, changed the password without going through the recovery process. This is much more believable.

 

I can appreciate that. But the chat log he sent me proves he knows someone else hacked it. Which I can screenshot. But that's why I posted it. If a mod wants me to try and recover it for him I will.

No I'm just saying the msgs he sent me makes it clear he thinks someone else hacked it. I'll post what he said if a mod wants to weigh in and ask for it.

 

Doesn't necessarily matter. As Ghast said, without proof he sold it you're obligated to help him. In either regard, hopefully a mod sees this soon and can shed some light.

 

It's actually the transaction account you middlemanned. I'll try and help him if that's what's required, but I think it'll be an injustice. It's quite obvious to me something fishy is going on.

 

I mean It's inevitable that a mod would ask for it, and It's also inevitable that they would weigh in on the situation. If the messages include sensitive information that can't be blocked out to grasp the idea that someone else hacked it, I'd understand if you would want to share it in a private setting with said moderator, otherwise waiting for a signal that is bound to happen seems gratuitous. I'm not insinuating that you're the perpetrator as your story does seem plausible.

Sounds possible. If a mod gives me the green light I'll send in a recov thing to Jagex.

I personally still think it's very likely there's something more to it.

He could've sold the account on PA, but they don't take emails associated to the account to my knowledge.
The reddit post was created 19 days ago, a day or two before he bought your account.
Searching "teamspeak runescape rat" brings up that reddit post as the first link.

His story seems very likely to me. If you want to wait for a mod to tell you the same or the contrary, sure.

 

Yeah, I guess rules are rules. No good evidence that he's lying, so I'll try and get the stuff back for him.

 

Update: recovered the account to his email. Back under his control.
