Mikasa From Attack on Titan

So, I just watched this show for the first time a few days ago and I thought why not make a tag.

This is probably my favorite tag I've made so far (between this, FMA, & Smudge Tag)

I tried establishing a clear light source alongside a flow. I've darkened the render quite a bit, but there are still a few eh spots. Also not entirely satisfied with the renders blending, but wasn't sure what to do to further blend it in (smudging just wasn't working out well).



Oh and let me know if I'm making too many threads. I'm not sure what the general consensus is on tags and whether to have 1 "master thread", or if it's fine to have a multiple threads for multiple tags (I feel like more input is garnered that way & CNC is always appreciated).

 

Personally, I find it acceptable to make a thread per signature, as you've spent a few hours making the graphics, why not?

As for the signature - I find it very dull. I have no idea what effects you've even put on there. It just looks very brown and with no real depth.

I do understand the idea of negative space, but the space on the left has far too little happening, especially with such a "quick" looking image. Maybe try something with motion blur?

Also, what is that big white smudge thing on the right of the render? I think it looks very strange.

Also, work on your text. it looks really lost.

 

Big fan of AoT. Don't know much about GFX, but the tag looks pretty cool.

 

I agree that the text looks a bit lost, it took me quite a bit to figure out where it was. However, the tag does look appealing and cool.

 

I actually missed a little bit of it as I was looking on mobile at the time.

It does look better on desktop. ^_^

 

Alright, I'll likely continue doing a thread per signature, or perhaps wait till I've made multiple to post a thread. At the worst, it's extra activity for the sub-forum.

It is certainly darker then I intended it to be and I have found myself looking at it trying to see details. I thought about cropping the image to remove a bit of the excess space on the left, but decided not to. There is actually a motion blur that spans across the left side, but it could certainly be stronger. It's something I added that while it may not stick out, it is noticeable if it's gone. The smudge on the right was created using the liquify tool, I wanted a spot that would be a clear light source that the swords could appear to flow with.

I'm still no good at text, the placement IMO is better then previous placements I've done (on the last two signatures), but overall it's definitely lacking. Advice has been to not put text, but I still want the signature marked as my own and I figure practice makes perfect.

Any idea on how to better incorporate text into tags? I have never really been good at anything typography, whether a typography based signature, or just placing text within a signature. I was just looking at it and was contemplating throwing the text overtop the top sword and embossing it every so lightly to give it an engraved look.

I'm not the greatest at GFX, but if I were to look at this text, it'd look a lot more like a watermark than compared to a 'signature' on your tag. I would consider making it stand out more (colour perhaps, change the placement, etc.).

 

Well it's not that bad but it's acceptable
