Is decrease in price of gold really a bad thing?

For gold buyers, no. For sellers, possibly as the profit margin has to somewhat be decreased

 

as a rs gold seller, im depressed with all this drops in price

 

It's good and bad.

Low gold prices attract more consumers. This means there is somewhat of a balance comparable from when prices were high for large gold merchants.

More supply = More stock
Cheap price = More consumers

I can't be too sure on the margin of profits.

It's bad for individual sellers who create supply themselves as they wouldn't be getting as much as before.

 

For gold farmers it's really depressing seeing gold going down and down.

For resellers, i don't think it really matters as Ghast mentioned.

As for buyers, the cheaper the better uhh?

So overall, it really depends who you ask to.

 

Buyers win because they pay less.
Re-sellers win because it costs them less money to keep stock so it's less risk for them and they also make more % profit since they kept their 50 cent margins.
Sellers lose because they make less.

Basically it's good for everyone except the sellers who got fucked hard.

 

I think it's good for everyone. Everyone is still making cash either way, besides the buyers of course

 

For people that buy gold to actually use in the game other then just reselling it, good.

 

For someone who was holding onto quite a bit of 07 GP when the price dropped.

It sucks.

 

Crashing 07 price hasn't been great for us. Our stock started losing value by the day and we had to dump it. Also there is a lag before sites realize and start lowering buy prices and customers get used to the new price. If they we're selling to us for 1.6 a week ago when you offer them 1.2 they're not going to be happy about it. (Just examples) Also it doesn't necessarily translate to more $ in sales. Customers often just buy gold by how much they have. If they have $25 they'll buy $25 worth of gold regardless of the price. If they need a specific amount in mills, well that just means they're paying a lower price than before so that doesn't translate to more in sales either.

Don't think it does any favors for the customer either. Any gold they already bought/earned has lost value. Any any benefit from the cheaper price is eventually lost because of inflation (assuming the crash is from dupes). Although I suppose if you didn't have any gold and went to buy some immediately after the price drop it might be nice.

 

seems like maybe mod weath was able to dupe some large amounts of gold.. considering all the price drops right before his removal and after.

 

Most sites are re-selling their stock over and over again daily so that's not really an issue unless you're a really small new site with no sales. Your profit % for that $25.00 goes up since you're still getting 50 cent margins but selling more gold so there is more profit for you.
