Do you think dieting is a necessary part of losing weight? I've heard people say you can eat whatever you want as long as you do running/lifting etc. What is your opinion on this? Does a person HAVE to diet in order to lose weight? Or is it just faster that way?

A person literally has to consume less than they burn to lose weight, therefore yes dieting to some degree is necessary

It's a lot easier to simply consume less calories than it is to burn off excess calories, so developing a good diet would be extremely important if you're looking to lose weight and keep it off.

So do you think you can still eat whatever you want in moderation? or stick to a specific diet.

Doesn't matter what you eat to some degree, as long as you are eating less energy than you are putting out.

It entirely does matter what you eat. Make sure you eat the right foods, balance your fats/carbs/protein, and intake less than you're burning. Staying active is recommended as well. Make sure you do some form of cardio, whether its a sport, or simply jogging. I like to think of it as exercise and diet are two halves to form a whole. Do them both, and you'll be well on your way.

Thanks haha. I recently went from 125lbs at 6 feet to about 170-175. I've done a lot of research into this, and I feel i have a decent understanding when it comes to this stuff. Hit me up on skype if you ever need any help :)

Lol I guess I wasn't very clear on this but by some degree I meant you can eat (most) foods that are pretty nutritious and still lose weight if you are eating less than you expend - its more big picture and less specific foods

Like for example , following a specific foods diet like the "grapefruit" diet or just simply "eating clean" won't matter so much as calculating your nutrition needs and then staying inside of those parameters.

I ate more than anyone. But ran/lifted 5 hours a day and was a toothpick. So yes, like others say: If you burn more calories through natural metabolism and exercise you can lose weight no matter how much you eat.
