    Why gp prices are dropping.

I've seen many posts where people were curious why bots and rwters aren't being banned and why the gp prices are dropping. There are 2 reasons for this.

1: Mod Weath(the person main responsible for banning bots and rwters) is on a vacation. So alot of private scripted bots and rwters are farming gold and there's a huge supply, but ofcourse not as many buyers. And the rest of the oldschool team is busy with the tournament. Secondly, dupes and glitches, as you all know there's been a shit ton of dupes in the game recently and the whole mod reach thing spawned A LOT of gold which still needs to be banned, they recently banned the gmaul one.

TL: DR: we need a major ban wave for the gold prices to go up.

Just bug abuse, pretty sure that this has always been the main reason.

I heard that on top of that rat pits bug people have been duping those platinum tokens bringing more gp into the game than there should be.

And simple economics, when supply exceeds demand, prices drop.

    Why gp prices are dropping.

This is ridiculously inaccurate. Bots contribute to the mass production of gold in the game, but are NOT the reason for the immediate decline in gold prices. It's already been established that dupes and gold merchants dropping their prices for competitive reasons are the main cause for this decline. Mod Weathe is only on vacation for a week. This is being blown out of proportion.

Mod Weath's absence does play a role and most jagex mods are busy with the tournament.

Bots don't have a significant short term effect on the price of gold. This includes a week long marathon of botting without disruption.

Not just bots, the banning of duped gold and gold sellers not being banned is also a factor. I've seen major gold sellers with the same account for the past 2 months.

Bots don't affect gold prices. They supply items in the game, without them, there would be shit for bulk items. Botting has been around forever.

It won't rise lol, this doesn't have much to do with Mod Weath.

There have been a few dupes introduced into the game in the past month, and likely more to come after the Mod Reach situation.

Yep, I highly doubt it will rise back to what it was.

In my opinion, 1.4-1.8 is numbers where price of gold will be in future.

If prices will be below that number then gold farming wont be worth wasting time.

We'll see if your Mod Weath hypothesis was correct, he's back from vacation as of today.

edit: according to his twitter he banned 4000 bots today.....

Quint and Hax Unit abused the Rat Pits dupe glitch recently. Solid 200k an hour for 30+ accounts not getting banned.
Another dupe for Platinum Tokens was also introduced.

Called it! And that's also like 30% users playing at any given time lol

Edit: also it's been only a few hours, it's 4k + counting in a single day, but let's see how it affects the GP prices.
