Pawn shops

My dad says only people that steal sell to pawn shops, which i think is not true... what is your guys's take on pawn shops? personally i think it's a good way to get rid of a lot of unwanted but usuable things.

 

It's easy cash for someone that is in need for some money and can't afford to ask for a proper loan.

And about the people that steal and sell... well my uncle got involved in drugs and shit and actually what he stole, he went to the pawn shops and left it so he could buy more drugs.

He even took things from my house to pawn them, really fucked up.

 

Wow that is fucked up lmao. don't they have u sign something whenever u sell to say that these items are not stolen?

 

Didn't you always confirm you were above the age of 18+ (21+ in some states) when you watched porn?

What I'm trying to say is that shit just reduces liability for the shop - and that's it.

 

The stereotype exists for a reason, when something gets stolen in my town the cops forward it to the pawn shops to look out for.

 

Personally I have never pawned ( I don't know if that verb even exists l0l) but well if that was the case I suppose he lied lmao

Unless you have something antique-like, don't go to a pawn shop.

 

It's really helpful. I've pawned a few things and it really helped me out when I was in a bad position.

 

It's for people in need of quick cash. I've never gone to one but I've watched the American show called Pawn few years ago that was about ridiculous antique pawns or conflicts that took place while pawning with clients. You're dad is not wrong but it's not the only thing a pawn is for. I don't like buying second handed stuff and I never really sell my stuff.

 

I inherited a car and had/have nowhere to put it. I pawned it for $500, valued at ~$13000 and as long as I pay every month it's a really cheap place to keep it.

 

50% of items that go into a pawn shop are most likly stolen lol

 

It's a cruel thing with interest rates unaffordable in some places but it's a major lifeline for so many.

 

Easy cash when you need it.

 

A lot of stolen goods do tend to show up at pawn shops but with that being said. I know many people that found them selfs hard up for cash and would sell some of there stuff to a pawn shop to make ends meet. Honest everyday people do use pawn shops.

 

That's how it is. It's also the fastest way for people who steal to get money so obviously it's common that people think that only thieves use it.

 

Most stolen/lost phones go to pawn shops.

 

Never pawned myself, but have been to a gold/silver/coin shop which was similar and traded in a bunch of silver for some small gold pieces.

I was always interested in the show Pawn Stars, which is more for antique and high-value goods versus the quick sell or pawn for a few hundred dollars..

Theres another one called Hardcore Pawn that is kind of a knockoff but is more about the life of a real everyday pawn shop versus Pawn Stars which is a bit staged and only a select few items are shown.

 

I've visited a couple pawn shops and haven't been impressed. Lots of junk it seems.

Wow that's an interesting idea I'm surprised more people don't look into this.

 

I personally don't like them, they always low ball you.
