MMR boosting punishment?

Hi, as a relatively new elo booster I am concerned about this article that Riot recently put out:

I've only done about 10 orders of varying sizes, and everyone is safe so far. I use an VPN and I do grab an IP that's in their city. Is this article just a scare tactic by Riot? Looking for input of more established/big-time boosters, what is the ban rate usually for your customers, are you using VPN, and how do you compensate the customer (if at all) if their account gets banned for MMR boosting?

Hoping this is just the standard garbage Riot puts out every season and that the actual punishments will remain few and far between.

 

Probably a bit of both. It probably could result in a ban but it's hard for them to find out. Probably relies a lot on reports

 

Just stick to the proper ettiquetes regarding safe boosting that most prominent boosters use and you and your client should not be in harms reach - hopefully.

 

Looks like some clients would want to duo ranked because of this now.

 

I can't really afford to duo rank that much because of my weird schedule :/

EEB, have you ever had a client banned? How many orders have you done?

 

People won't be punished at all it seems, at least this season.

This person clearly states that using a VPN will never result in an MMR punishment on an account. Therefore, anyone buying boosts through this are completely safe. There are of course other factors involved, such as noticing changes in behaviour patterns on the account, ie; clicks per minute, warding, creep score, k/d/a ratio, etc.

I guess all you can do now is ask boosters to act like low elo players in terms of this.

 

Riot can grab IPs through VPNs if I remember correctly.

Usually the punishment is 2 weeks + removal of all ranked rewards in the current and past seasons if it's linked back to your account.

 

This is not a very efficient solution for me, how am I supposed to boost accounts if I'm supposed to act like low elo?

I'm aware of the punishment, apologies for a poorly worded title. I'm asking about the ban rate for customers, and what security measures do you personally use as a booster. I just use a VPN located somewhere in their city based on skype resolver and that's it - I don't bother with summoner spells, or "acting low-elo" lol.

 

I've asked a lot of people and nobody I have known has gotten banned.

 

I don't use security measures. I got banned once because I made the mistake of letting a teammate who had a red flag on him play on my account. Regular boosting is relatively risk free in my opinion.
