Toxic Blowpipe vs. Crossbows

And that guy and people in the comments claim to be getting 90-105k exp per hr.

But I just don't believe it, when I add up the stats against a rune crossbow and odium ward, the toxic blowpipe with steel darts doesn't even have half the atk and str bonuses.(It has double the speed though, so it at least has to beat half the bonuses to be better)

With the crossbow and odium ward I'm only getting 47-50k an hr? How is he doubling my exp with lower bonuses?

So which is better? Toxic blowpipe or rune crossbow with odium ward and why? Show number please.

 

I think purely the speed of blowpipe is what yields the huge exp/h. Even at level 75 ranged, I was getting 75k/h with it in nmz. So, blowpipe is definitely your best be there.

 

But how? It's only twice as fast as crossbow, but it doesn't have even half the dmg of crossbow. So you hit twice but less than half as often and less than halfas hard.

 

Where are you getting this? Toxic blowpipe has +60 attack bonus, vs +102 of rune crossbow and odium ward.

You're right. I had it in my head it was +40. However that still doesn't fit the bill. The strength bonus of the blowpipe is +40 vs broad bolts of +100. So an example is it would hit 4 + 4 and the bolts would hit 10. And then the blowpipe would hit an average of a bit more often per hour. It could explain a 10k difference per hour. But not 50k difference. Anyway, I guess it JUST DOES since ppl are seeing these results.

 

I actually think the odium ward is more expensive flat purchase. but yeah, maybe over time it costs more to use blowpipe.

 

Are you using void? Also, what's your range level?

 

Yea void, snakeskin boots, fury, odium, rune c-bow, and broad bolts. 75 rng. Also before you say that guy in the vid had 97. In the comments multiple ppl claim to get 90-95k at 70s rng.

 

Not sure if this helps any, but I remember I was averaging around 75k/hr with a blowpipe w/ steel darts on my pure (with around 120 range attack bonus) @ around 80 range.

Blowpipe has a much higher dps than crossbow. I average 110k with mith darts with void max range bonus 91 range.

 

That is helpful. Seems much more realistic. I'll probably buy they blowpipe then.

 

Cbow for general training, BP if you plan on going nmz and grinding for a few hours.

 

I'm currently 82 range. I am using adamant darts in my BP at NMZ. With overloads and eagle eye, I am getting 100k exp an hour. My max hit (without the special) is about 23. It hits very fast, and is really accurate. I only get maybe 55k an hour with a crossbow using adamant bolts and the same prayer/overload.

 

tbh with the cost of addy darts and scales chinning would probably be a better option

 

Just chin and get 260k+ exp per hour.

 

Eh, I cost it out a while ago and it wound up being about 5.6gp/exp at NMZ. Ape atoll with grey chins was nearly 10. That's not factoring in the point rewards too.

 

Have you actually loaded your blowpipe? The stats change with the darts used.

 

idk where u got those stats from, but i was getting 100k range with blowpipe at nmz
