Apparently I have a valuable account and I should sell it

Long story short, I was sitting in Mumble with a bunch of friends and one of them were saying that he sold one of his old accounts here and that they go for a lot. I still have my old account from the 1.6 days that I used last somewhere around 06 probably, I showed it to my friend and asked if I could sell it and he told me that it was very valuable because it has a 4 digit user ID (STEAM_0:X:23XX).

Now, I don't know at what prize I should sell this at but I'm feeling skeptical since people seem to only use PayPal around here and I don't feel like dealing with chargebacks even if I don't really lose anything. I've sold some WoW stuff in the past and dealt with scammers.

Could I possibly get something like knife on CSGO for this account? I have a feeling my friend is trolling me and this ain't worth shit but I'll give it a go anyway

If the account comes with OE it's valued at around $80ish due to it being a lower 4 digit account. You'll get a very basic knife for the account if you dont want Paypal, nothing fancy. I'm surprised you've held on to this for so many years and never knew it was worth something.

If it's actually your original account, $80 isn't worth it. I would pay hundreds for my original account that I made in 2003, but I will probably never come across a chance at that.

 

I've known about the account sitting on my old mail but I haven't had a use for it until now, I had no idea they were actually valuable. $80 is a lot of money, taking a quick look at the market that would give me a Huntsman Knife | Night (Field-Tested).

I'll probably end up using it myself in the future sometime unless I see someone trusted here offer me decent CSGO items.

Well, first of all I had no idea people actually bought old accounts. And I didn't find it until about 3 weeks or a month ago when I was trying to make a CSGO smurf with my old email and it told me the email was already in use. My main account that I have always been using I made just a week later(18 September). I think I stopped using the 4 digit when I switched to Source which I only played on my main account somewhere in 05-06.

Oh, I see. I'll get it verified if someone actually wants to buy. I doubt it'll get sold but if some trusted dude comes with a good offer I gladly go first after verifying the account.

If I like someone's offer and they are 100% they want to buy it, I'll get it verified first and I'll go first during the purchase. I don't see the point of "outing" the account when it might not even get sold.

Although you have vouches your account is barely 2 months old, if I sell via PayPal I don't want to have to wait 45 days just to make sure I don't spend the money and then get chargebacked.
