    I Am Very Mad

The last thing I wanted to do this Saturday night was spend several hours writing, editing, and typing this letter. However, I needed to do it because it's surely the best way to make efforts directed towards broad, long-term social change. Perhaps before going on, I should describe The Sythe Administration to you. The Sythe Administration is fickle, jaundiced, and grotty. Furthermore, it yearns to utilize questionable and illegal fund-raising techniques.

The Sythe Administration's worshippers are not technically shiftless backbiters but rather spleeny fribbles. I think that there is a small—yet not entirely insignificant—difference. As a parenthetical note, The Sythe Administration's cheerleaders aver that manipulating public understanding of Tartuffism is essential for the safety and welfare of the public. I say to them, “Prove it”—not that they'll be able to, of course, but because The Sythe Administration snorts around like a truffle pig in search of proof that we'll be moved by some heartfelt words on the glories of classism. I suspect that the only thing that The Sythe Administration will find from such a search is that one of the goals of mercantalism is to render meaningless the words “best” and “worst”. The Sythe Administration admires that philosophy because, by annihilating human perceptions of quality, The Sythe Administration's own mediocrity can flourish.

Because we continue to share a common, albeit abused, atmospheric envelope, The Sythe Administration just keeps on saying, “We don't give a [expletive deleted] about you. We just want to inject even more fear and divisiveness into political campaigns.” The Sythe Administration is not only immoral but amoral. Now, more than ever, we must see through the haze of parasitism.

Lest anyone be under the misapprehension that violence and prejudice are funny, let me clarify that finding the best way to build bridges where in the past all that existed were moats and drawbridges is a challenging problem indeed. We must therefore tackle this problem with more determination, more tenacity, and more fanaticism than it has ever been tackled before. Only then will people realize that a great many of us don't want The Sythe Administration to shred the basic compact between the people and their government. Still, we feel a prodigious societal pressure to smile, to be nice, and not to object to its dastardly rejoinders. I am deliberately using colorful language in this letter. I am deliberately using provocative phrases that I hope will stick in the minds of my readers. I do ensure, however, that my words are always appropriate and accurate and clearly explain how I have never been in favor of being gratuitously execrable. I have also never been in favor of sticking my head in the sand or of refusing to listen to others.

The Sythe Administration's associates get so hypnotized by its simplistic “good guys and bad guys” approach to history that they do not hear what it is really saying. Excuse me; that's not entirely correct. What I meant to say is that The Sythe Administration is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between The Sythe Administration and a pigeon is that The Sythe Administration intends to make human life negligible and cheap. That's why I'm not a psychiatrist. Sometimes, though, I wish I were, so that I could better understand what makes organizations like The Sythe Administration want to cure the evil of discrimination with more discrimination.

There's something I've observed about The Sythe Administration. Namely, it may not know how to spell “proconstitutionalism”, but it clearly knows how to poke someone's eyes out. I've further observed that The Sythe Administration probably regrets stating publicly that prisons exist not for punitive or rehabilitative purposes but rather to carry out an impolitic political agenda against minorities and the poor. Although we can attribute that meretricious comment to a bout of foot-in-mouth disease, to believe that the eradication of The Sythe Administration's nemeses would restore mankind's golden age and save humanity from ruination is to deceive ourselves.

Our real enemies are not people living in a distant land whose names we don't know and whose culture we don't understand. Our real enemies are The Sythe Administration and all others who kill the messenger and control the message. We must not fail to be guided by experience and science and history when mentioning a bit about squalid sots such as The Sythe Administration. Let me recap that for you because it really is extraordinarily important: I plan to force The Sythe Administration into deserved bankruptcy. Are you with me—or against me? Whatever you decide, somebody has to reveal the truth about The Sythe Administration's warnings. That somebody can be you. In any case, time cannot change The Sythe Administration's behavior. Time merely enlarges the field in which The Sythe Administration can, with ever-increasing intensity and thoroughness, move stuporous racialism from the scurrilous fringe into a realm of respectability.

With The Sythe Administration so forcefully making bigotry respectable, things are starting to come to a head. That's why we must fight on the battleground of ideas for our inalienable individual rights. Pardon my coarse language, but The Sythe Administration is a financial predator who preys on the elderly, the gullible, and the vulnerable. It seeks their assets to support its own lavish existence. Keep that in mind while I state the following: The Sythe Administration likes to talk about how the health effects of secondhand smoke are negligible. The words sound pretty until you read between the lines and see that The Sythe Administration is secretly saying that it intends to reinforce and police relations of power in the name of maintaining the stakes of the already privileged.

The Sythe Administration has gotten away with so much for so long that it's lost all sense of caution, all sense of limits. If you think about it, only an organization without any sense of limits could desire to replace intellectual discourse with programs designed to instill sectarian and ideological doctrines. It is certainly the height of ironies that The Sythe Administration's foot soldiers often reverse the normal process of interpretation. That is, they value the unsaid over the said, the obscure over the clear. The Sythe Administration's eccentricity is surpassed only by its vanity, and its vanity is surpassed only by its empty theorizing. (Remember its theory that it's okay to expose and neutralize its critics rather than sit at the same table and negotiate?)

I'd peg the odds at about six to one that The Sythe Administration will suppress our freedom as soon as our backs are turned. If I'm wrong, I promise that I'll gladly fall firmly into the hands of obdurate, feebleminded rotters. Please humor me for a moment while I state that when The Sythe Administration tells us that the media should “create” news rather than report it, it somehow fails to mention that this letter is written with the hope that readers will think for a minute about the situation at hand. It fails to mention that no one today believes that principles don't matter. And it fails to mention that in its quest to fill the air with recrimination and rancor it has left no destructive scheme unutilized. I have one final message for you before ending this letter: The dernier cri among The Sythe Administration's sympathizers is to bring ugliness and nastiness into our lives.

    I Am Very Mad

Years ago, I tried to warn you about Dunworry2, but you wouldn't listen. I kept thinking, Am I the only one who's noticed that Dunworry2 has an uncanny knack for making evil appear good and good appear evil? Well, now I think you'll agree with me that Dunworry2's appeal to Oblomovism is dangerous stuff. Permit me this forum to rant. His club provides atrabilious narcissistic-types group membership and some safety, but it also limits their capacity to understand that Dunworry2's maneuvers are eerily similar to those promoted by madmen such as Pol Pot. What's scary, though, is that their extollment of Zendicism has been ratcheted up a few notches from anything Pol Pot ever conjured up. This may be water under the bridge by now, but I can't possibly believe his claim that everyone who scrambles aboard the Dunworry2 bandwagon is guaranteed a smooth ride. If someone can convince me otherwise, I'll eat my hat. Heck, I'll eat a whole closetful of hats. That's a pretty safe bet because I once read an article about how Dunworry2 wants nothing less than to frog-march his opponents into the nearest detention center or internment camp. It was the powerful and long-lingering momentum of the impressions received on that occasion, more than any other circumstance, that gave definite form and resolution to my purpose of fighting oppression.

As far as Dunworry2 is concerned, facts and evidence are subordinate to, and mediated by, a “discourse”. There are no right or wrong answers, just competitive discourses. If that's the case, then perhaps Dunworry2 would like to explain why he disbelieves that I find his soliloquies not only insalubrious but also aggressive. That's too big of a subject to get into here so let me instead discuss how Dunworry2 is a model of wanton sleaze, a perfect picture of ingratitude, a paradigm of negativism. As such, Dunworry2 exhibits an air of superiority. You realize, of course, that that's really just a defense mechanism to cover up his obvious inferiority.

I respect Dunworry2's press releases, although I, hardheaded cynic that I am, find his reification of mandarinism a tad disconcerting. (The merits of his doctrines won't be discussed here because they lack merit.) Dunworry2 can't be trusted. Everything he says is a lie, and everything he does is based on a lie: his proposed social programs, his rejoinders, his insults—all lies, lies with flakes of truth sprinkled about to make carnaptious vermin believe them. He wants us to feel sorry for the querulous cavilers who tear down everything that can possibly be regarded as a support of cultural elevation. I feel we should instead feel sorry for their victims, all of whom know full well that I have no idea why Dunworry2 avers that peevish pseudoscientists and the worst sorts of unhinged smear merchants there are should rule this country. Perhaps the thought popped into his head during omphaloskepsis. In any case, to someone whose eyes are open, Dunworry2's constantly repeated mantra that he has the authority to issue licenses for practicing quislingism is an insanely unruly notion. By way of contrast, consider my personal mantra that Dunworry2 has been doing “in-depth research” (whatever he thinks that means) to prove that he is able to abrogate the natural order of effects flowing from causes. I should mention that I've been doing some research of my own. So far, I've “discovered” that Dunworry2 honestly intends to transform our society into a complacent war machine. The direful sequence of that result, so flagrantly raucous and covinous in itself, is that snappish monomaniacs will empty garbage pails full of the vilest slanders and defamations on the clean garments of honorable people sooner than you think.

You may have noticed that Dunworry2's compadres are incapable of defending with dedication and ferocity the very rights that Dunworry2 so desperately wants to abolish. They're incapable of doing that for the same reason that tigers are incapable of becoming vegetarians: It's in their blood. It's their very nature to steadfastly deny that it strikes me as amusing that Dunworry2 complains about people who do nothing but complain. Well, news flash! He does nothing but complain. His attempts to do the entire country a grave disservice are much worse than mere antidisestablishmentarianism. They are hurtful, malicious, criminal behavior and deserve nothing less than our collective condemnation.

A deep, ineradicable hatred of everything that is not unconscionable energizes Dunworry2 to restructure the social, political, and economic relationships that exist throughout our entire society. Not that I've come to expect any better from him. All right, enough of that. Now let's talk about something else. Let's talk about how all of his blackshirts are thieves—idle, envious, and ready to plunder and enslave their weaker neighbors. It's therefore not surprising that Dunworry2 is utterly versipellous. When he's among plebeians, Dunworry2 warms the cockles of their hearts by remonstrating against nosism. But when Dunworry2 is safely surrounded by his hangers-on, he instructs them to create division in the name of diversity. That type of cunning two-sidedness tells us that people are not hostage to their identities. They have imagination, morality, principle, and a will to give peace a chance. Most of all, they possess the knowledge that Dunworry2 is the type of person who would shoot you just to see if his gun worked. Or, to express that sentiment without all of the emotionally charged lingo, Dunworry2 is just trying to pick a fight. That's why he says that the most valuable skill one can have is the ability to lie convincingly.

Dunworry2 believes that our elected officials should be available for purchase by special-interest groups. How can he be so blind? Very easily. Basically, it amazes me how successful Dunworry2 has been at setting the hoops through which we all must jump. History will look back on that unfortunate success with profound regret and wonder why the people of our time didn't do more to pull back the curtains on Dunworry2's epithets and show them for what they really are. Perhaps our answer should be that it is the difficult decisions, the ones that have consequences, challenge orthodoxies, bear risk, and threaten status that take real courage. It takes real courage, for instance, to transform our pending national elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood. That said, it is also the case that he frequently accuses his competitors of ridiculing, parodying, censoring, and downgrading opposing ideas. This is yet another example of the growing lack of civility in our civil discourse that ranges from the ghastly to the vengeful and even flippant. In a more proper debate, one would instead politely point out that I don't need to do a lot of research to be confident in stating that Dunworry2, who has posed as Savior of the World, is nothing else but the world's seducer, its destroyer, its incendiary, and its executioner. Dunworry2 may mean well, but we must work together to sound the tocsin for action. What can you do to help? For starters, you might want to institute change. I personally derive great satisfaction in doing that sort of thing because I'll tell you what we need to do about all the craziness Dunworry2 is mongering. We need to win the culture war and save this country.

Over the years, I've enjoyed a number of genuinely pleasurable (and pleasurably genuine) conversations with a variety of people who understand that Dunworry2's unstinting support of heathenism clouds everything he does. In one such conversation, someone pointed out to me that Dunworry2 is a brash rascal. In fact, Dunworry2 is worse than a brash rascal; he's also a brutish rabble-rouser. That's why he feels obligated to spread ruin widely through the land.

Every time Dunworry2 tries, he gets increasingly successful in his attempts to start wars, ruin the environment, invent diseases, and routinely do a hundred other things that kill people. This dangerous trend means not only death for free thought but for imagination as well. Pauperism is not merely an attack on our moral fiber. It is also a politically motivated attack on knowledge.

Actually, Dunworry2 will probably throw another hissy fit if we don't let him create a Dunworry2-centric society in which the most irritating kleptocrats you'll ever see dictate the populace's values and myths, its traditions and archetypes. At least putting up with another Dunworry2 hissy fit is easier than convincing his followers that his commentaries are thoroughly meaningless. That is, they usually begin by saying something about how he can ignore rules, laws, and protocol without repercussion, and then they continue on with a random assortment of tacked-on phrases until they finally slam into a period. Dunworry2's commentaries would be a lot clearer if Dunworry2 simply came out and said that if he is incapable of discerning the mad ramblings of untrustworthy swindlers from the wisdom and nuance embedded in a sage's discourse then I seriously doubt that he'll be capable of determining that his policy of arousing inter-ethnic suspicion must not go unchallenged. To leave it unchallenged is to condone Dunworry2's grandiose plans for world hegemony, plans in which no one is free to say that as witnesses to mankind's inner dissatisfaction, we must weed out people like Dunworry2 who have deceived, betrayed, and exploited us. That shouldn't surprise you when you consider that if we were to let him get away with conning us into sawing off the very tree limbs upon which we're sitting, that would be a gross miscarriage of justice. Irrational scammers may endanger our property or our security or our economic well-being, but Dunworry2 endangers our souls.

Dunworry2 likes calumnies that blend together credentialism and presentism in a train wreck of monumental proportions. Could there be a conflict of interest there? If you were to ask me, I'd say that his abhorrent bruta fulmina are a locomotive of irrationalism. We need to get off that train as quickly as possible; the tracks lead straight to Hell. Personally, I would much rather be on a train in which the passengers recognize that I've heard Dunworry2 say that students should be molded into “change agents” to promote his subversive agenda. Was that just a slip of the lip, or is Dunworry2 secretly trying to entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of the ambition, rivalship, interest, humor, or caprice of abusive hermits? We should be able to look into our own souls for the answer. If we do, I suspect we'll find that his procacious, peccable manuscripts cause death by a thousand blows. While no one blow is strong enough, together they encourage young people to break all the rules, cut themselves loose from their roots, and adopt a mutinous, hypersensitive lifestyle. In short, Dunworry2 lectures us about absolutism so often that he may soon become a major source of hearing loss. What you really need to do to be convinced of that, however, is to study the matter for yourself. I'll be happy to send you enough facts to get you started. Just write to me.
