Thoughts on the draft? FA signings?

I can't believe Calgary got Hamilton for mere peanuts. Calgary and Edmonton are doing work in Alberta, and they both are scary teams.

The Canucks trading Bieksa, Lack, and Kassian(today) really pains me. We didn't even get that good of a return for Lack while Jones got a first rounder back and Talbot at least got a second rounder back. Kassian + a 5th round traded for Prust? What the fuck? This trade confuses me most of all, no idea why it was made.


I think the real news of the day is Kessel to the Penguins. Holy shit the leafs got fleeced in this one.

 

Leafs fan here, I didn't really look at the trade that deep but initially it seems like we got robbed. I know the Pens will be in cap trouble now (I think Kessel, Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, and Letang alone combine for ~55% of their cap), but Kessel was a 35 goal scorer next to fucking BOZAK. next to some of the players on the pens? I think he has a legit shot at the Rocket trophy next season tbh.

In return, we got a good prospect, a decent prospect, and a late 1st rounder (Pens usually make playoffs). On top of all that, we retain 15% of Kessel's salary (not sure if I got the number right but we do retain some percentage). So, right now it feels like we got robbed.
