Ask him to pay it back gradually. $250 is a lot for a 14 year old to pay in one go. Just tell him to give you a few dollars every few days.

Now I see this is about a virtual knife in CS GO. Isn't the only thing thats different is the skin of the weapon? Don't they still work exactly the same as others? I would cut this dude off man, not worth sweating over it. People talk crap all the time and never follow up, headshot this dude in CS GO and move on.

 

Only could advise trying to ask him for less has worked for me when friends owed me large amounts of money kind of the same concept debt collectors have if you owe $500 they would rather close the account for $300 and atleast get something.

Some people are very close friends, some are not so close, some are borderline enemy and others are not your friend at all.

Based on his dishonesty you need to decide how close of a friend you can trust him to be, if at all.

Try not to stress too much over the knife. I have no better advice than what is quoted above.

 

This is a lesson. Never bet on what you're not willing to give up. Your friend fucked up, but what he doesn't have he can't give. Let it go. If you want him as a friend keep him and forget it happened. If you don't want him as a friend drop him. My suggestion: Set up a payment plan. $250 is a lot for a 14 year old but $25 a month isn't. Had you done that you'd have $50 of yours by now. If he defaults on a payment then you can dump him as that's a character issue.

 

Why would you even lend a 14 year old kid with 250$?

 

Is his friendship one that you would like to keep? Obviously he doesn't have the means to get you the knife right now. If he does have the means to and is choosing not to than he isn't a friend worth having anyway.

I would put it to bed and just being extremely upfront with him and let him know you're not able to associate yourself with a liar.

 

Not going to lie if this guy is one of your good friends that you don't want to lose then I would just say fuck the bet.I would rather have a friend then fall out with a friend over a few pixels or some "paper". If you really care about this knife/money then just try to persuade him to pay you some money every week or month until he pays it all back. Hope this helps
