Ex-Staff

Hello.
Most of you should be familiar with the background for this thread.
I was awarded ex-staff after my termination from staff.
Today, it was removed from me. I've been given the reasoning "removal from staff was not my choice, so no ex-staff usergroup."

I would like to dispute this. I've always cared for Sythe, and tried my best to moderate to the best of my abilities. I've made my mistakes, but that's how I was learning. I've been contacted by tons of people who were against the demotion, and I really appreciate your support and encouragement, i'll keep trying for sure.

I have contributed many discussions, contents and other events outside of my "necessary" moderator duties, going far beyond the modscore quota and actually being involved with members of my sections.
I have attempted to bring change to Sythe, having many approved suggestions and causing at least a dozen changes in my time at Sythe.

For the rank itself, I believe I deserve it. I was demoted, yes. Demoted users don't get ex-staff rank, yes. I obviously can't dispute the demotion, as much as I'd like, but I'm disputing the removal of my rank and UI abilities.

I think that it is only fair that I have this rank. I have given tons of my personal time as a volunteer to help improve everyone's experience and help the site go in a better direction.

Please consider my request, as well, this is completely different from my quest for cracker head, they are unrelated.

EDIT - My demotion reason was private. For clarity, I'm allowed to share it. I don't mind going public.

To answer, I was not given a warning for any of this. As well, James' thread had very little to do with my demotion. I have not received any specific examples of my demotion reasoning, simply the pm below.

 

Support blade did more than most of the other staff members even though he is a slow learner.

 

Sure, I think we all make mistakes in life. Blade shouldn't be punished to this extent.

 

Support, this is bullshit. I'm sure there was more to the demotion (which I still don't personally agree with) than most of us know, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. I'm not going to pretend blade was the best mod, but he put in a lot of time and effort. From what I could see, he made decisions based on what he thought was best for Sythe and its users. He deserves the ex-mod rank at the very least.

 

Think you should have it still.

I support this as well. Even if you weren't well-liked or made some improper decisions, you still gave plenty time and volunteered to a site that you didn't have to. You should be appreciated for the work you did in the past

 

He should just get mod back tbh people were being too salty. Blade clearly cares about the site.

 

Appreciate the support of a friend as always, but I'd also really like to hear from those who were supporting of my actual demotion.

I have yet to hear from any of these users. Even if nothing changes, I'd still like to know what I could have done better, and way to improve.

 

If this isn't it, then I'm not sure what is and why people are supporting this when they haven't heard both sides of the story. I'm not very active on Sythe, but blade looked like he was doing at least a decent job.

The staff should clarify the reason, at least to you. Getting demoted without even knowing exactly why after putting in so much time sucks.

 

When Blade first became a moderator, I was banned for apparently scamming someone. At the end of that scam report, I was unbanned, and the other user was banned and justice was served. To go into depth on what that meant, was mistakes are always going to be made because no one's perfect. Blade has learned a lot ever since he first became mod and should either be given a second chance or atleast his retired mod rank. Support.

 

Blade did more for this site as a mod than most of the mods do right now. So what if he ruffled some feathers? I'm sure quite a few former/current staff ruffled feathers now and again.

Just to point out, Lean was demoted for inactivity and he has the retired global rank, why can't blade have it?

 

To be honest, I don't have much of a personal opinion on blade. But I can verify that at least the part he talks about going outside of his moderator duties, and genuinely being involved with the community is very true. In the Sythe league of legends skype group, I asked a question once and he was very helpful to me, and he is always very active in the chat as well. Since league is the only game I play that's all I can comment on, but at least on this front I'd say his community involvement (without even caring for whatever modscore is, unless you get points for sending messages to an arbitrary skype group) is very high, and he is a very positive and central contributor to the chat at all times. I'm sure anyone else in this chat would say the same too.

 

Staff who are removed from the team are not eligible for retired staff ranks. This is how it has always been.

 

Hmm so there wasn't a clear probationary period? We don't know the reasons behind the demotion, perhaps it was extreme, but otherwise I'm surprised you didn't get that at the very least.

 

I absolutely hate the "This is how it has always been" argument. It's the most closed-minded thing anyone can say. That's the whole point of blade's thread, to try and change something...

What? 3 weeks? You had a talk with me in January. That's very, very far off of 3 weeks. The issues, while similar in nature, had their differences. As well, I was once again trying to explain my discontent and address issues with you, to where you simply ignored me and said "Is that all?" like i was just some waste of your time, when even a few messages earlier you'd said we're all a team, no matter the rank. Quite ironic, this was the reason for many of my issues. When I'd bring up feedback within staff chat or staff lounge, I was ignored. If I pointed out problems with someone above me, ignored. The only way to make change these days is to get global, or most likely admin. Roary is trying, but it's him against the world at this point.

This hasn't always been followed.

 

He should have ex-staff rank. He earned it, and went above and beyond trying to help. Obviously you didn't agree with some of his decisions, but he had good intentions.

Its kinda a big fuck you to someone who tried their best to help the site

5 years to the site, 5800 posts, referrals, donated $100, and volunteered as staff for free. Least you can do is let him have a rank signifying he was staff at some point.

 

I've never worked at any workplace that has demoted someone without several talks about ones issues and how they can improve on those issues. I work for a multibillion company in management and have never demoted someone without talking to them on more than one occasion unless the issue was drastic. I've never had to deal with blade personally but I do observe a lot that happens on this forum and he seemed more than willing to help out anyone in need. I don't know the full extent to his demotion, but I feel like he is deserving of the rank given the circumstance.
