Brainwashing facilities in USA

So I was browsing reddit out of boredom and I came across this discussion where someone was essentially talking about these brainwashing facilities (officially, they are known as privately funded boarding schools).

Their distinct purpose seems to be for crazy parents who's kid doesn't seem to be having the same religious or political views as them, so they get in contact with these facilities and if the kid won't go there voluntarily, they can actually pay the "boarding school" a little extra for people to come out and actually kidnap the kid and drive them off to the facility. This appears to be completely legal in the US as parents can just sign a form and give the school 51% custody over their kid so the school can do pretty much whatever they want to them to try and brainwash them. They appear to use torture, abuse and just general bullying in order to try and brainwash the kid (things like sleep deprivation, starving, constant lowering of self-esteem).

Is this for fucking real? I imagined these sorts of places would exist in the world, but not in the US.... I don't understand how they are legal and how organisations like human rights have not gotten involved to clamp down on these sorts of places.

Some parts of the US are really fucked up (recently, more Americans like Bush more than Obama... crazy huh)?

It's pretty believable, America is very Christian (some parts VERY religious) and to be honest the average American in the US has the impression that the world loves America and it's the greatest place in the world, so the brainwashing part isn't really a big surprise.

 

Believable =/= True. Conspiracy theories are fun to read but don't get sucked into them. Sure, there's a possibility for ANYTHING to be true, but what you're talking about sounds like a load of shit to me. Thomas Paine would be very disappointed with you.

There is nothing wrong with the US presidents, sure sometimes they may make decisions that don't seem very intelligent but google a picture of any president before they become president then one a few weeks after. You'll see that they literally look 10 years older. No doubt due to the crazy amount of stress due to the 10000 of problems that an everyday person doesn't seem to think about / know. As for America being mostly Christian that again is a lie. Im guessing you've never actually visited America. I find it harder and harder everyday to even find anyone that still believes in God.

Most Americans do not think America is the greatest place in the world, but we are thankful for the freedoms we have compared to some other countries. I personally miss Poland and would move back in a heart beat.

I think you truly haven't done any research and you are just taking stereotypes so that it can fit this far fetched story.

 

Okay, yeah, that was rude and condescending of me, I apologize -- but this is the kind of stuff that really grinds my gears. Blatant fear-mongering and baseless conspiracy theories are such an enormous waste of time, energy and valuable brain space. That doesn't excuse me poor behavior at all, just trying to explain a little bit here.

 

I'm just going to close this thread. No real discussion, massive generalizations which don't contribute to the discussion, and spam.

Linked thread comes from an extremely biased subreddit and could be completely made up.
