I know, it wasn't there army there special forces, I was out there with the MMT (Marine Corps Air Traffic Control Mobile Team) and they would hike around and we'd talk every now and again, the way they explain it was they are the elite portion. Idk if they where hyping themselves up. But I believed them just because how fucking bad they would get slayed and how long they hiked in that heat.

To help the less fortunate, we where just in Nepal for humanitarian relief. That and just to see what the military is actually about, I am not staying my whole career but its an opportunity not many take. And the older you get the less likely you'll join. I've always been told you can't bash on anyone if you haven't walked in there shoes. I use to bash on the military a lot (I hated the military for a while after my brother died).

EDIT: Now that I've served for a little bit I can see how hard every day life is and how hard it is especially for those over seas (im not deployed in a combat zone but I've been in Japan for a while now).

Very broad question, I am going to try to answer this and hopefully it was the answer you where looking for.

I feel that what I do on a day to day basis is nothing more then a 9-5 job (minus the fact that I am a shift worker.. but you get the point)

But what I do when on operations I feel like is very useful and 100% mission critical. It might sound like my job is dumb or pointless in the military, but weather is 100% the driving force on a lot of operations.

Example; did you know that when seal team 6 took down Bin laden Moon illumination was a driving factor on if they could execute the mission or not on that night. Reason being is several different reasons, with to high of an illumination they might have been very easy to spot at night, but if the illumination was to low the NVG's (night vision goggles) would not work properly.

So is it that you think what you do is useful when you go on missions, but otherwise normally it's pretty meh? How often would you go on missions that you consider useful then?

^ Exactly for the first portion, and I go on Operations (missions) about every two-three months. But when I am back at station if I didn't wear my uniform everyday I wouldn't know I was in the military because how 9-5 it feels.

Everyone would be different, I tend to like the mustangs more (officers that where prior enlisted) because they understand what its like to be an enlisted Marine.

As far as the Officers in my command,

    I only have three

    My OIC CWO RICKSHAW 9/10
This man is a hard charging motivator, ever see a 240 pound man run 3 miles in 19 minutes? Neither have I until I met this man. Very knowledgeable in the job field and stays out of enlisted business unless he has to intervene.

    My Parent Command OIC

****(so basically I am in a deployable unit, but when I am not deployed I go to station. But my parent command is still my deployable unit)

    WO Tyx 1/10

Absolutely disagree with everything he does, he just got commissioned (became an officer) and he still acts like a GySgt (rank he was before) which is totally unacceptable from an officer. Hes to nerdy as well, he acts like we all have been through 6 years of college.

and finally the Base CO (base commanding officer)

*****(Now a regular service member usually would have almost no contact with the base CO, but since I am in fact stationed on an air station our CO is a pilot and I give him weather briefs very often.)

    Lt. Col Schmit 10/10

He's very motivated and dedicated to the Corps, he bleeds freedom.

I have a couple of questions.

Can someone in the Army be punished for infidelity against a wife/husband?

If you are in the Army but are stateside, can you be punished for anything? Like lets say, a video surfaces of you calling someone the N word.

Can a person file a complaint against someone in the army? Let's say if someone in the military calls a person something offensive on the streets is there a place that the person can go and file a complaint about it?

Not to steal your thread lcpl, but I'm also in the military (Army).

Yes. Adultery is a very serious issue in the Army, and it's not dealt with lightly. While I've never seen it personally in my unit, I know it is punishable.

Stateside or overseas makes no difference. There's two strict policies in the Army. One is SHARP (Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention), and one is EO (Equal Opportunity). By calling somebody else (in the Army) the 'N' word can lead to punishment, usually something called an Article 15. Punishments under Article 15 include: Loss of pay for 60 days, extra duty for x amount of time, loss of privileges, and reduction of rank.

While I've never seen that happen, I'd imagine that depending on the act committed by the service member, something could be done. It would have to start at the local police agency, since it didn't happen on base. Then if the police officers took control of the case, they would alert your chain of command (your superiors). However, that's for extreme crimes, like public intoxication, DUI, assault, etc. and not so much for name calling.

    Thanks blue grass!

Hooorahh? Wrong branch I believe that's the armies thing. We Marines say ooorah, or rah.

    No I haven't killed anyone..
No I wouldn't keep score either.
It effects my mental state at times, shit can get rough but we all push through.
Every place I've gone on a Op to has been very low risk, Philippines was the highest and still almost no risk of dying.
You are tied down, you can buy out of your contract (expensive)
    Da fack is a QRF?

QQ been in forever and I still get called a boot, and that sucks bro, I'm main land Japan, a lot nicer, I live off base since I'm married. Rah devil.
