i enjoy listening to indie music once in a while. anyone have suggestions for good indie songs?

you mean like indie rock? you realize indie means any music produced independently from big music production companies, right?

not even sure if they're counted as indie, but i like lcd soundsystem, black keys, some arctic monkeys, franz ferdinand, bon iver

some bands i like are bon iver, syd matters, arctic monkeys, alt j, the xx, etc.

 

which genre within indie rock?

Arctic monkeys are pretty great, and since you like them, maybe you'd like the black keys. They're more blues-y, whereas arctic monkeys are more punk rock-esque, but it's worth a shot.

I'd also suggest Foals. They're an amazing band. When you try them out, listen to each album of theirs. Each one has a pretty different sound than the others. Their first album is pretty up beat, whereas their second is very mellowed out, and the third is in between but on the more mellow side.

Some other great bands are the strokes, two door cinema club, bombay bicycle club, bonobo, calexico, Starfucker, the dead weather, vampire weekend, and the fratellis. All of these bands are super different, but maybe you'll find a few different genres you enjoy

If you don't already, try using spotify's related artists tab when trying to discover new music. I've found tons that way

 

within indie rock? i'm guessing you meant other type of indie. personally, i'm not really into indie pop or other things.

tried listening the black keys and two door cinema clubs, and they sound a little too upbeat to me. i like more relaxing songs.

The Wombats, The Arctic Monkeys, The Dead Weather, Devil Makes Three, Parker Milsap, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, The Hackensaw Boys, The Builders and The Butchers, The Goddamn Gallows. Tons and tons of great little known and indie bands out there.

 

Yah, older black keys I think are a little more mellow. Foals are certainly a pretty mellowed out band. For that, I'd recommend their second album. Also, try out bonobo. Super chill, super calming.

And yes, I meant in regards to within indie rock. Indie just means independant. Thus there are indie folk bands, math rock bands, blues, punk rock, and etc.
