As someone who wants to really get in to botting with the possibility of setting up a gold farm, I've seen many guides say that investing in a good VPS is highly recommended. I've never used any kind of VPS and was wondering if someone here could tell me what it is they actually do and how they benefit you with botting on runescape, thanks! :)

A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS. For many purposes they are functionally equivalent to a dedicated physical server, and being software-defined, are able to be much more easily created and configured.

a VPS is supposed to help prevent chain bans for gold farmers.

Would the person/company you rent the VPS be able to gain access to passwords etc? If not, then why? What are some red flags I should look out for when renting a VPS? Also, what is the difference between using the proxy settings that are built into bot clients like TopBot and a VPS?

Isn't that what a Proxy does minus the OS?

yes and no some times just using proxies is not enough you can still be tracked cuz other people might use the same proxies to bot as you if they are private proxies not so much but i always use vps with a desktop and remote control program and proxies so i am always sure i am not banned from the ip its selfs if you get 3 or more banns on 1 ip most the time your ip is on a list any accounts that play on that ip will most likely be banned if boting at all i use kihi hosting for my vps and always great and cheep
