Some ISP provide their own security like BT, SKY e.g.

Not sure how great they are - I'm with mcafee at the moment but may change soon.

Ditch McAfee and go for Kaspersky.

Windows Defender, formerly known as windows security essentials is the best free antivirus imo.

    For paid, Avast hands down.

I bought security once and its such a waste of money honestly. I stick to the free AVG and do scans with Malwarebytes (separately downloaded) for malware.

    Moved to tech.

Don't use McAfee, it's pretty damn not good.

    I'd advise against McAfee.
Always scan with Malwarebytes, it's great. As for protection, just use Avast tbh.

Also, there's websites you can get just about any subscription a lot cheaper if you really feel the need to pay for one.

I use AVG and I suggest it. I'm not familiar with other malware protection programs, but I haven't had any problems with AVG and it's working pretty well for me.

Panda Global Security is what I would recommend you.
Its paid, but its really worth it and it has a reasonable price.

Malwarebytes on the side also helps a lot.

McAfee is the worst of the worse.
After it was sold, it went to shit.

If anything, a free real-time AV and manual scanned will be fine, something like malwarebytes for manual scanning is perfect. Free real-time AV is up to you, just look around.

To be safe, trust nothing suspicious. Read about anything before you install it, for things like recent exploits the company might of had or if it is simply a virus. You are the key to keeping your PC safe, so be smart. I don't run a real-time AV and scan manually once a week, and I am fine.

Lastly, manually go through your PC and remove stuff that is not in use, suspicious, and just taking up space. Also be sure to clean out your temp folders in %appdata%.

Hope I helped, stay safe. :)

^Exactly what i use, i had paid for norton security a long time ago and it fucked my computer when it expired lol. I also use CCleaner (its free) every now and then, just to clear it up a little.

Honestly do yourself a favour and avoid anything like mcafee. In truth, there's a lot of free AV's that are better than paid ones. I would suggest Malwarebytes, their free version easily knocks some paid AV's out of the water.
