Any way to change default HDD?

I have two HDDs in my new laptop, one is 100 gb and the other is 500 gb. the 100 GB is the default one which has been immediately filled with my music. Is there some way of switching them around in the settings or something so that the files default to the 500 gb HDD?

    Cheers

In each program where you download things there should be an option to specify the download location.

I have run into this in the past. The 100GB is where Windows is I assume. That also means that is where your user directory is. Many programs will default to a folder in your user directory and you don't have much say about it. You can change your user directory to the other HDD but IIRC it is a pain and there are some issues. You could also just mount a partition of the other HDD as the folder in your user directory that had most of your crap in it (like music or downloads).

If you mean the "music" folder in Windows explorer, it is possible to change that so it just shows music folders from the other storage device.

I don't even use that, I just have a folder on my desktop that shortcut to one of my secondary hard drives for music.

SuF, would you be able to elaborate on how it is done and why it is such a pain? It sounds like the best solution but not necessarily the easiest.

This sounds like the easiest solution, would you be able to elaborate on how it's done?

    Cheers guys

    > Right click the music option in Windows explorer
    > properties
    > Remove the existing one that links to the drive you DON'T want it to go to
    > Select "Include a Folder..."
    > Go to the place your music is stored (remember you are selecting the folder, not anything inside it)
    > Press 'OK' and you're good to go

If you're on Windows 8 or later then it'll be different. I'm on 7.

Yeah this is my first experience with windows 8. Still unsure whether I'm gonna keep it or "upgrade" to 7.

Windows 7 + 8 serial keys can be used for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it release, so something to bear in mind.

For now, I'm sticking with 7. No problems with it at all.

Mounting the HDD somewhere is not all that bad. Changing your user directory location is a huge pain since it's pretty vital and easy to fuck up. Also it is not something people normally do.

Laptop's solution will likely work for you fine so do that.

I'm sure there is some setting to do that somewhere, can't think off the top of my head.

I'd combine the drives into one 600gb drive. If you need help PM me.
