I just got an email from paypal saying I got 305 dollars from a dispute that happened 6 months ago. I logged into my account by going to www.paypal.com and it was actually there.

So dont fear paypal

Same happened to me only it was $124 but they kept my paypal locked which blew chunks

they lock it because you're deemed too risky to do business with. They make you send in a bunch of ID and then they tell you that you'll need to wait 6 months to touch any of your money. So don't jump on the Paypal train too soon my friend.

Sorry, my friend, i must disagree, as i posted before, i got only 1 payment off some real business , and they locked my account, no complaints or anything, and they kept asking me to send papers over papers, while my acocunt was locked.
In a word, if you are a buyer, paypal is not a bad choice , as long as you DO NOT verify your credit card.
If you are a professional, merchant, paypal SHOULD be avoided, unless you the risks behind locking your account is low (i mean IF they lock your account that won't hurt you much).
If you are a software developer, paypal is a very good choice, their developers platform is genius, and very easy to use, and they provide a very complete test environment, adding paypal to your website is a novice programming level.

The funniest things about paypal are :
- they always state their database is in the states, thus EVADING european privacy protection systems (you cannot ask them for exemple to close your account , or to forget your credit card number , which would have been the case if their servers were in europe or other countries with very strict privacy policies) -because of this i had to cancel my bank account, cancel my credit card, make 2 new ones, so that their records become obsolete (and yes i did this after seeing some "strange" debits on my credit card coming from paypal and my locked account !!! and i made opposition on them of course).
- If you dare calling them (yes i did, and many times) , it costs a lot of money (0.35 euros the minute if i'm not wrong), and you will be waiting in the queue for at least 10 minuts (thus 3.5 euros before talking), and then, you have to explain the whole case , and reexplain to the paypal guy or gal, and trust me, they will not do a thing (my last call costed me more than 10 euros), oh , and they are generally rude because of their simple rule : you are locked = you are a rogue.
- Avoid having an ebay accout with same email address, they seem to be very suspicious against people using ebay (in order to "protect" ebay).
- If you send them an email, you will have 2 possible answers, both automatic :
*1* Due to overwhelming emails we cannot answer you at this time bl abla bla.
*2* a generic email that says nothing but that your account will remain locked , and that you shall send them a bunch of other documents because you tons you already sent aren't suitable, or aren't yet sufficiant to prove that the 10 usd that M. X sent to your account are totally legit.


There are a lot of other means for electronic payments in the wild, not going to state any to avoid spam-like-posts, but i'm actually using 2 others and have no problems of whatsoever.

Its great until it gets locked with $1022 in it, 4 more months and I get it back.

Seriously, a week before those funds should be available Paypal will send you an email telling you that they think the funds are fraudulent and that they are being put on hold. Although I really hope they dont and you get that money

Paypal, got screwed by me, lol. My paypal account, has negative 660$ sitting in it, because of a bad trade+me transferring the money off asap =D. Its locked of course, but they have yet to contact me about the negative 660$, even after a year of it sitting there.

 

So they gave you the money but kept the account locked...

That's sucks..

i have never lost anything from it, whenever i have to use it, for a GP trade, i use unverifed australian (meaning you can actually send money, in an unverified US one, you cant ) then i send the money to another account, and close the first account, so if the seller does chargeback, paypal loses money, not me, and they can't come after me, cause they have fake info on me, plus, using a highly annomyus proxy, so basically, they can't do jack shit, and i am fine, i have never had a problem with them, but i rarley use them
