Well slight problem, I'm not trying to convince you to believe in God?.. That and there is no evidence that proves that God does or does not exist.

Also, you can have a discussion about opinions (not meant in anyway to pressure you to do so, but just pointing it out.)

I enjoy the KJV too, but as literature--the original King James Version of the Bible (of which I have two full-scape reproductions from the 1611 version of the very first year in publication, including an entire section of Apocrypha originally sandwiched between the Old and the New Testament, which I'm sure your more modern renditions omit) contained hundreds of typographical and translational errors that are simply embarrassing my modern scholarly standards.

There was no computerized typeface or spellcheck in 1611--everything was hand set and whatever errors crept in, crept in. You entrust your understanding of these sophisticated ancient texts and of the Works of God to a couple of Royal British translators working over 400 years ago, uneducated and illiterate and confused by any decent modern standards?

Sounds like some Zen poetry. Something Jesus might say. Why does this imply God as a person who sent a literal human being as his literal son to actually die a gruesome death of primitive Roman execution?

    And knowledge is knowledge.

This simply isn't true. If you believe the creationists, Noah's flood happened at the height of Egyptian pyramid building. You need to read about the actual chronology of these things.

I can look out my window right now and see light from stars that are millions of light years away--measured based on empirical observations. Also based on empirical observation, we know light has a finite speed. Neither of these facts are obvious, but knowing the value of the speed of light allows us to infer both the distance to the star system as well as the time it took the light we are presently seeing to reach us. And it took millions of years, not thousands. There really isn't a way around this other than to say God set up the physical scenario as to be intentionally deceiving (which some creationists may).

And did all the coal and oil in the ground somehow magically form in the last 6,000 years? Or did God just put it all there to make it look--absolutely definitely--like the dinosaurs lived hundreds of millions of years ago rather than 4,000 years ago?

Bullshit. There aren't any Evergreen trees in motherfucking Palestine--I know the Bible very well and Christmas trees aren't an object of discussion for the simple reason that they didn't exist until about the 16th century. You can trace the origins of the holy winter tree back to the ancient traditions of the native pagan peoples of Europe, sure...but you can do that with anything.

    Cool.

Now if you decide to learn evolution and become a biologist in school, people will actually pay you money to apply what you know and you could get a job in a lab actually researching the mechanisms of evolution and how it all works, from atoms, to cells, to brains.

But note: They don't pay the biologists nearly as much as the computer scientists or the physicists. ;-)

I don't know what an expert on evolution is! But the scientific method is cool beans and we ought to apply it honestly instead of just parroting what someone else told you about how you needed to listen to them instead of the evil scientists.

Truth is truth. And chemical evolution is biological evolution is technological evolution. It's all just consciousness--and evolution is the rule by which it develops.

You haven't read the right books then. But there are literally thousands of them along with literally millions of scientific papers going back to Victorian England.

Haha, have you been watching Kent Hovind or something?

It's cute, but listen to yourself. I'm talking about reading books and you're talking about dragons. I get it's a RS cheating forum, but this is the real world we're talking about--not some human-centered fantasyland that was invented only for us just a little while ago.

The game's far older than you and your body or me and my body--that's just the way Nature chooses to run her Universe. If you don't like it, piss off--I think it's pretty damn pretty the way it is.

Who is this "we" that fucked it all up so badly?

What did you personally do to fuck up this supposedly perfect world? What did I do?

What did any of us do? What could we?

    The point is . . .

    The point is . . .

    There is no point.

Thermonuclear detonations using quantum technology--the same fusion power that enlivens the stars--on our sacred, ancient, terrestrial home, that of the mysteries of life and our ancestral secrets stretching back to the beginning of time...that's only 6,000 years old? A puny ape-body can make it for 80 or 90 years without too much trouble if you try...the order of magnitude is fucked up.
