If so, what are your spiritual beliefs?

This is probably the millionth thread about this.

No I don't. Why? Because I refuse to take someone's word that there is an omnipotent creator without any form of evidence to back that claim up.

 

A simple no.

 

Would anyone on here say "Yes" to that question ?

OT: Yes I believe in god. I believe that there is a heaven and hell and our behavior on this earth is just a test for God to decide weather we're going to heaven or hell.

I would consider myself an agnostic theist. Yeah I guess I believe in some sort of "God"/creator, but who knows, I could be completely wrong.

 

God will show you evidence of himself you just gotta follow his word.

Agnostic what exactly? Agnosticism/gnosticism refers to the possession of knowledge and actually has nothing to do with God or religion.

You are either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist. I.e., "I do not know for certain but I believe / do not believe in God." As opposed to a gnostic atheist or theist who says "I know with certainty that there is / there is not a God"

 

Few qualms I have about religion:

1. People seem to pick & choose what they like in their holy books (providing there is one)

2. Outside of the picking and choosing, the beliefs found often are limiting. I do not care what you do, but do not use religion as a justification for your ignorance and/or oppression of people (among other things.)

3. Superiority complex that is often adapted and the thought that they are 100% right and you are 100% wrong. "Christianity is the only way, sorry, everyone else you're going to hell."

4. Religion is so diverse. There is not some overarching religion which has always been there. Hell, Christianity - currently the biggest religion in the world - has been around a measly 2,000 years. This is but a dot on the timeline of human existence.

5. Religions have taken many of their holidays/celebrations/rituals from religions which they overpowered (ex: Christianity and the appropriation of sorts of pagan holidays.) While I'm no scholar, it seems religions are just new/re-invented teachings that take from the old.

I've long considered myself an atheist (and still largely do), but if you mean God as a synonym for Brahman or Cosmic Consciousness as in the Tao of Physics...you have me interested.

Ofcoarse i believe in god. We should all believe in god. How can we be born on this earth so perfect. How can the climate be so perfect how can animals live on this earth. Why are we so perfect and smart compared to other living organisms why do we create and thrive off learning new things. It is stupid to believe that there isnt a higher being in this universe.

 

99.9% of all species that have lived have gone extinct. The evolutionary process that created life in its modern form resulted from untold suffering and anguish--hardly attributes of a kind & loving, omnibenevolent god.

By this logic, being born a dog or a bird ought to count as strong evidence against His existence. You have nothing to compare the universe, the creation, to...you're postulating a massive and unnecessary teleology that is a clear violation of Occam's razor.

 

We'll just ignore all the horrible things that come along side that, cancer for instance.
