Somebody on here throw me a bone. I just bought my kid a computer for gaming and want to purchase a steam account that's got games already in it. Single father of two and the computer damn near broke me, so I can't be tossing hundreds on games. He's only 8 so I'm staying away from GTA types, but he loves garry's mod, call of duty zombies, minecraft, terraria, lego games. I don't think I really care about how many digits his account is, nor do I think I need some advanced level achievement, because then he will get into ranked games way outside of his skill set. Any of you computer gaming fellas care to help an outdated father out with some advice? I'm definitely not an idiot, but reading these forums has made me feel about 100 years old. Some of the abbreviations you guys use are mind boggling.
Are there any safe websites that allow this. I sent a mod a PM and he advised me against buying an account because they are easily recovered. I'm thinking now that I should buy an old account with games and open a new account to place newly purchased games.

 

Just make your own account and buy some games when they're on sale. If you buy an account from someone it can be recovered and then you lose both the account and the money you paid for it.

 

There are some sites that actually sell games for a discounted price.

Id suggest making your own steam account and just purchasing games as their discounted. It'll obviously be more expensive than buying a preloaded account but it's much safer.

 

Won't buying games outside steam get your account locked or banned? There's no way to take ownership of an account someone wants to sell? I figured someone who decided to stop gaming for whatever reason, would stand to make a profit instead of just letting the games they purchased just get old. I see a few websites selling these with "guaranteed" account transfer and protection. Everyone agrees that this is a scam? How do folks know the same things won't happen with these low digit accounts for sale? I figured there had to be a way to someone that just wanted out or something.

 

Makes sense, the problem however is you can never be too sure about what intentions people actually have. They all say I'm quitting, I don't use this acc anymore and what not, you buy it, 5 days pass and poof it's recovered. You woulnd't believe how many kids and scammers there are out there.

If you can find someone on sythe who is very reputable and known you'd probably want to take that shot, otherwise you shoulnd't think about buying accounts under any circumstances.

 

I guess therein lies the issue. Gold and items won in game are easily sold off to someone and regained in game by playing they games for fun. Selling an entire account would not be normal, they would basically be doing it as they closed down their account here as well. I guess I'm looking for a unicorn then. Thanks for your help. Maybe someone else will come across this and know a more reputable way of securing an account.

 

You're best off creating a steam account and just buying cheap games.

Thanks for your advice. I'm definitely going to create a new account and buy some games. I'm also going to put in work and watch for someone on here that's reputable and purchase a loaded account. I now see that it will take some time. But it will be worth the effort to get a load of games that I wouldn't have got otherwise. When people discuss a middle man, what exactly do they mean. I understand the idea, but is it a person or are there website's for that?

I've never been to Korea, but I lived in Guam, Bahrain and Diego Garcia during my time in the Navy. Hopefully in a few years my kid will be giving you guys hell in whatever games you're playing! I got the pc in the mail today. I think after I show him how to run the wires and run thru the setup, we'll be downloading terraria and Garry's mod. Lil guy wants five nights at Freddie's, but I prefer to not have scared kids sneak into my bed in the middle of the night.I was going to buy another controller, but it doesn't look like steam supports multiplayer fps games on one TV. I remember playing 007 golden eye on split screen back in my day.

 

Think what you're doing is really cool. Wish I could help out more but I'm not really into gaming much myself.
