Masturbation: Right or Wrong?

It is clear in the book of Leviticus in the Bible that Masturbation is totally unwanted. But one has to remember, these were ancient Israelites. They did this because they thought that semen represented life, and they didn't know the total anatomy of it all.

So, what do you think? BTW, this is meant for Christian people.

 

um i think its right in some ways and wrong in some ways..long story..

In Religion class today we had a long discussion about it. I don't think the Israelites knew anything about it, and in Leviticus' time they had no idea how everything worked.

Only thing wrong with it is coveting your neighbor's wife.

I think it's ok, i mean your not hurting anyone. The only people that really seem to have a problem with it are Catholics because of some religious reasons.

Also i think about what it says in the bible isn't really true. They were ancient Isrialities and didn't know how everything worked. For example, it says in 3 different spots that the sun revolves around the earth, but we know now that that isn't true.

i will tell you however that it can become a sinful act if you include lust....for this reason some try to avoid the whole situation all together.
lust is a sin because it leads to adultery. (theres always a reason for something being a sin, thats why common sense can be used to define right and wrong).

if it was defined a sin im sure many would no longer do it....youd be suprised how religion can influence ones life.

I personally don't masturbate, but don't care if others do or not. It doesn't hurt me or anyone else, so I have no reason to complain.

Seriously, almost everyone will do it at least once, even women.

 

Following The Ace's opinion, as Pyro 214, where the hell in the bible does it speak out against masturbation? The Catholics do not have a problem with it, I dont know where you get your information, Masturbation is not a sin, because it is kept to ones self, but people who do not have self control results into rape, kidnapping etc. In conclusion.

Ermm... no. If anything, they didn't do it because of the divine law of Moses.
But, as said before, masturbation is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible.

Every person is dishonest at some point in their life, so why not be dishonest in everything?

If you're a well-versed Christian, you no doubt know it's wrong. It's making light of a god-like power bestowed upon us.
After all, the first command given to humans was to "be fruitful, and multiply...", and God no doubt gave us the capacity to do such. And I don't he'd care much for warping it into a means of vanity and self-gratification.
