Regarding Sythe Name Changes

Support though, just because I dont see no reason not to

 

I'd love to be able to change my name to Poseidon, seeing as the user with that name is banned, but the active users in the steam trading/csgo subreddit's know me by my name.

Anyone who's active wouldn't want to change their name, as they'd lose a little credibility being lesser known

 

I believe I fit that niche.

 

I tend to derail suggestions by making counter-suggestions and I apologize. I'd ideally like to see people given a single name change, or one every year.

On their profile it could show "Previously known as: list of other usernames"

 

This seems like a reasonable suggestion though, that way it won't be like people change their names every other day. I have friends on steam that I have no idea how I met because they have a list of 30 different names...

 

Yeah I myself chose a shitname and had to make another (this) account to continue doing business on sythe.

I mean a note on the registration page would be easy but I doubt many would actually read it or care.

I think people just expect Sythe to be the same as the other forums around and want name changes (I know that's not what this thread is asking for) to be available just because that's how it is elsewhere.

I laughably spent a while coming up with RwmRS2.. because I was just used to Roary being taken on other sites. I was well aware of the fact I'd be stuck with the name I chose, I didn't assume I would be given a chance to change it..

That said; it's literally a line of text. It would take seconds to implement. It requires an upper to edit it, so you'd be quicker just PM'ing and asking one of em to add it in.

 

just a line of text above / below the box would work nicely yea. But also possibly a name change option from people other than staff? Maybe requiring a $5 payment with something that shows what your name was before the change for however long, kind of like in runescape after a name change and / or at a certain donation level unlocks a 1 time use perk. or once a year / some other limitation.

I actually agree with you there.

There is not point in adding extra text to an already cluttered registration screen. It would only make the signup process appear long.

And that is the main turnoff for me signing up on forums/sites.

 

Agreed. Sounds like one of those pop-ups that you'd just click OK to without reading it actually. Denied.
