puush has been hacked!

ShareX is open source hosted under GPL, if u r worried that the binaries are infected, u could download the source from https://github.com/ShareX/ShareX, read through them, then compile them urself.

I dont really like ShareX since it's uses much more memory than puush/gyazo, and unlike sharex, u could upload with gyazo without needing to start it first.

I'm developer of ShareX by the way.

 

Reason why ShareX using much more memory because of how .NET framework works. Even 1 line console app will be using alot of memory. But .NET will be dynamically handling memory usage according to how much your ram is full so it is not big deal. So when your ram is empty it is using more memory because there is free space.

Also ShareX don't have advertisement in links unlike Gyazo.

There is no such thing about be able to upload without starting software so I'm not sure about that.

 

i've never used it myself thankfully. it's crazy that well used software can be attacked and successful!

 

Sorry what i meant was Gyazowin.exe allows u to snapshot a region and upload it, then automatically close the app. Good for infrequent uploaders who dont need to have an uploader open 24/7.

 

If you add these commands to ShareX shortcut -RectangleRegion -AutoClose then it will do rectangle capture, upload, copy url then automatically close. So ShareX can do same thing too but with more possibilities

Only thing left is that gyazo's crosshair appears pretty much instantly after u start it, while sharex takes ~2sec to start.

 

Adding -silent will work I think.
About startup time it gonna be difficult to compete because .NET framework apps always will open more slower
Why you don't make ShareX stay in tray bar? So you don't need to re open it everytime.

 

Pretty sure puush is fixed now, just saw someone post a puush link earlier. Worked properly.

Fuck... I use puush, and I specifically remember trying to take a screenshot while it was updating... FML.

 

I use it very infrequently (like maybe one image every few days/weeks), and i run a lot of memory intensive scripts on my comp, so i do not leave any unused programs open.

Also disabled autoupdater for all my programs, partly to save that little bit of RAM, partly for security&reliability reasons (bug/malware in new update)

 

run malwarebytes, change all important passwords.
