Phone shutting down randomly and loses battery

I have had this problem with my phone that it randomly shuts itself down for few months now with my samsung galaxy s2.

I haven`t yet figured out what might be causing this as it doesn`t happen everyday and not even each week, sometimes phone can however do this up to 3 times a day.

Sometimes when this happens I reboot phone without problems, sometimes reboot eats like 20% of battery charge after it does this, sometimes have to take off battery as phone doesnt turn on otherwise.

Anyone familiar with this kind of problem? Is it battery that is broken or possibly something else? Any help would be appreciated.

I think your battery is dead. When your at home try to keep your phone on charger and check are these things will happen again on charger.

could be a lot of things from apps causing problems, to physical hardware damage. My s4 did the same thing, the power button was sticky and would get jammed with I would try to sleep/wake the screen. I just downloaded assistive touch and use that to lock the screen so it doesn't shut off, lol.

I'd say its the battery that needs replacing, try that first as its the cheapest route.

My old s2 did the same exact thing and the only thing that fixed it was rooting it and installing cyanogen. I think it was a software issue but you can try a new battery first.

It could be the mediaserver draining your battery. You can see the CPU usage somewhere in your settings.

Thanks for all advice, I'm going to try buying a new battery first. I deleted most of my apps that may have been causing some issues but that didn't fix the problem.

If new battery doesn't fix this either I'll try resetting phone to factory default.

My iPhone 4s does this shit every time. Seems the only way around it is to force it to drain to 0% and charge it to full, but in use it bleeds like 3% battery a minute.

My sister and mother had/has the same problem with the galaxy. Samsung phones are just terrible when it comes to it's battery, and battery conservation. The problem you're speaking off (rebooting) is related to the memory of the phone. I'd suggest downloading an app called Clean Master to free space off the phone. This would make the phone run much faster, thus reducing the need to reboot.

Yeah I have noticed that the quality of samsung phones & components has gone down quite a bit and that affects battery as well. I might test that app if I can't find any other solution.

Maybe you should buy a new phone instead? The s2 is really old now, and the s6 is coming out soon.

I can barely even afford to pay my bills & food at the moment so that is not an option, also I'm doing work training 8 hours each day so its not about being lazy. I don't get paid for that but its so hard to find a job in my country unless you first get good education and do things like work training.

    Not everyone is rich.

Finland so yeah, cold may have done some damage as it has been many times -25 or -30c outside when i have used my phone. This happens indoors as well though.

Now Im however always certain that its not battery. Most likely somekind hardware damage / issue with android as I have found new problems: Camera is always "zoomed", During phone conversation other persons voice randomly starts sounding like a squirrel or nothing is heard at all. When writing sometimes phone jams and says something like "google search stopped"? Happens when even not using internet, getting quite weird.
