I wont even fkn start... Im from mtl canada and it pisses the shit out of me that the english french italians indians russians and some black chinese immigrated here and worked. They worked hatd to build what they have and theh wanted no appreciation from anyone everyone was equal. Gets me fucking upset that they immigrate here and want there own rules,laws and want to be respected they build million dollar mosks and they want everyone to see what they do they are such an arrogant community and i have some friends that are Muslim its sad that they are select few because not all of them are bad but when you wanna start changing laws and ways of life of others to please yourself do me a favor and go back to where you came.

Before someone ripps into me because they do not agree with me remember this is my personal opinion from where i live it might be different elsewhere but its the unfortunate truth here.

 

It's not Islam or the majority of Muslims and anyone who says that Islam is solely responsible for their terrorist acts is ignorant. My girlfriend's grandfather is from Jordan, has Islamic ideals and isn't a terrorist or even considering killing others in the name of Allah. The extremists are to blame for the killings, not the Muslims as a whole. As Roary said, the extremists are at fault.

You made a general statement about Islam rather than organised religion in general which gives the impression of a selective xenophobe.

I'm against fundamentalist religion for a similar reason, but in my case it is because while holy books tend not to change their most fundamental teachings, morality itself is fluid and changing with the ages. To attempt to constrain society by something which refuses to change is the death of progress.

 

The title of the thread asks if I'm against Islam, if it had been titled with the word "religion" replacing "Islam" my answer would have been very similar.

I disagree with your use of the word "xenophobe". Just because I disagree with Islamic ideologies does not mean I am afraid of or dislike Muslims. I made it clear that I have nothing against Muslims in my first post, so any misinterpretation is on you.

 

I don't have a problem with Islam, i know for the fact, when people carry out attacks, its usually because the people around them that influence he/she to do such a horrid thing.

Can we agree that RADICAL islam is not the same as islam? I'm in the military so yea my JOB is to keep this country (USA) safe from the reaches of radicalism and the people who wish to do it harm. But when we deploy, every person in any middle-eastern country loves us. (at least they say). I'd spend time with them, eat with them, etc. they're all really nice and welcoming people.

So am I against Islam? No not at all, but I do wish to bring an end to radical islam and the people who support it.

 

I think most people are too brainwashed by the media on this issue. Without first hand experience it's too difficult for them to make a non-biased opinion.

If after the 9/11 disaster Al-Qaeda send out a message claiming that they had reasonable evidence to commit the "terrorism" as they believe the world-trade-centre's were hiding weapons of mass destruction. Would it be any different to the invasion of Iraq?

At the end of the day we're all people, and people are going to be biased towards their own countries. However, dropping bombs all over Iraq, Afghanistan and the list could go on, is only going to radicalise the people there. As I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot, it would radicalise you.

After the 9/11 attack, I'd say the vote for war against Afghanistan was pretty high. Is that not being radicalised/extreme? Invading a country is Unauthorised and the word "unofficial" is a ridiculous word to include in a definition as it gives authority to those who claim to be official and therefore not terrorism. However, it is unauthorised use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims regardless.

 

All religions are fucked, it's just people tend to focus on Islam. I remember at the same time people praise a god that wiped everything off the fucking Earth and realise it's not worth getting pissed about.

But its just stereotyping a whole religion based on a TINY minority of people causing these acts. If you read deeper and look closer you'll see that a lot of this stuff isn't even Islamic.

In the same way the media sensationalize the terror attacks and stay quiet on other occurring events that are of a more vile nature. I'm not blaming anyone lol and I've lived in Britain all my life but all these terror groups that show up are funded by "some countries" and without them they wouldn't be at that place. In the end I'd say it falls down to human nature.

I'm against no religion at all, whether it be Islam, Christianity or Judaism.
The problem with A lot of religions, is their writings are open to a lot of interpretation.

The problem with Islamic extremists/ISIS is they are just a cult of psychopaths interpreting the words of 'Allah' in violent ways. Whether Allah or any form of creator is real, I am pretty the world wouldn't be created with the creators wish of it's followers to murder people.

My other issue is the media, they are making this ISIS business seem like it's all new and that we can't do anything. This stuff has been going on for years and years and years. The worst they can and will do is probably something similar to the horrific attacks on the world trade centers. There's never going to be a take over from Islam where the Sharia Law takes over man made laws. Not in our lifetime anyway. The west and surrounding areas who fight against Islam are just too powerful.

 

Sorry, but there's no fence-sitting on this debate if you actually know what the religion of Islam teaches in its texts.

No debate should be about religious people or its leaders, because at some point there is personal perversion injecting itself into the religion, but the two are still entirely separate. However, that is not the case with Islam. People try to sometimes defend Islam by equating the times of the crusades to the Islamic conquest during the late century after Muhammad's death, the fact(s) of the matter is that religions such as Christianity are polar opposites as opposed to religions such as Islam.

Islam has not had a reformation. Islamic holy text has not undergone a reformation. The religion itself calls for the killing of non-believers. At this moment there are Islamic extremists lobbing off the heads of non-believers; does this mean they aren't Muslims? No, they are Muslims, and they are doing exactly as their religious text/founder calls for. Going based off everything literary wise, THAT is Islam, there is no way around. "That's not real Islam!" If you were a "real" Muslim, you would be following your text to the tee, that means executing non-believers if they refuse to pay a tax, even then, there are immense gray areas in Islam.

Am I Islamophobic? No. I actually have many friends from KSA and I love their culture. Do I understand the fact that the peaceful Muslims ignore the bad parts of their text/founder? Yes, they do, that is a hardcore fact. Would I rather it be that way? Obviously, but i'm not going to sit here and lie about a religion and its founder that make it very clear what a "true" Muslim would be doing should he follow their text verbatim.

E: Something I should probably add in is this... the major religions in the world have all had their darkest moments. Judaism, Christianity, Catholicism, but all have reformed for the betterment of humanity. To me, it seems like Islam is at the cusp of reformation, although Islam is very different with its text and rules/laws from the other big religions. It seems that from great violence and adversity each religion formed, hopefully this time around Islam will reform for the betterment of humanity. However, it's a cultural thing, and culture is a difficult thing to change. (for specific niche groups in Islam which numbers wise ranks in the hundreds-of-millions)

 

As a muslim, I believe I have a reason for being put into this world. I wouldn't imagine my life without Islam. I also don't see why people should be against the religion, because people can believe in what they want, they're way is theirs and our way is ours.

 

Aslong as the religion doesn't affect my life, I don't care. Everyone can choose whichever religion they want aslong as it doesn't harm other people.

Most of the muslims are nice anyways, atleast the ones I know.

I also believe that you can't really blame others for someone's action. A lot of the new generation don't understand this fact. It's really hard to be a muslim in today's world because of all of this shit going on such as the extremists going crazy and using Islam as an excuse type thing. I hate people who use god like that.

I also believe that everyone has a choice to believe on who they want.Freedom of religion.
