Why do I always see people splashing?

It's been awhile since I've played and was wondering why I see so many people splashing.

What're the pros and cons to it?

 

Either to get their magic levels up, or just to pass the 24 Hour trade block for new players, or both.

Didn't Jagex make an update that stopped a certain way of splashing though?

 

fully afkable splashing is still possible, just go to a pvp world and do it there in a non multicombat zone.

 

5M tops with smoke battlestaff

It's like .3 gp/xp with fire strike. Just got 94 mage today after like 6 weeks of splashing.

 

How much are smoke battlestaffs going for right now? I can't check. Not online runescape.

They really need to do something about splashing, it's devaluing the magic skill

 

It's easy EXP while I'm sleeping and mind runes are like 3-5GP each.
Fire strike is only 13kexp/hr, but being logged in for 6 hours splashing gives some nice exp while sleeping/at school...

how would you do it in a pvp world w/o being attacked?

 

There are tons of things to splash on, like chickens/goblins/cows. Make sure you have accept aid off.

 

Accept aid off, attack anything in a non multi combat area.
you can checkout fishing guild to see how people do it.
