i have not considered a rail or any alterations for the glock other than night sights. It it usually my winter carry gun with a blackhawk serpa holster. i know it is awful to carry as it is loud and can throw stuff into the eyes when fired through the ports. but it is a cool gun and i like it. I think it is too big to carry during summer months even though it is considered to be sub-compact.

The shotgun at my local gun shot holds 3 shells at a time and has a pistol grip. It is sweet but i would estimate at or about less than 12 inches. crazy small. being a 12gauge it would probably be a lot to handle in such a small frame.

I LOVE my mosins, best bang for your buck right now I'd say for sure. ~$150 for a rifle that is capable of taking any game on the north American continent that shoots .20¢ a round.

What's NOT to like? I fairly recently got a Ruger blackhawk .357 (think I posted it here) however am regretting my decision. I should of saved up a bit more money and bought a super blackhawk or S&W DA.

Would LOVE a colt but I don't wanna drop $1000+ on a revolver just yet. Is your dads a python?? I've always wanted a 6" Colt python..

Nah it's a king cobra. Fires like a dream. Old man has already told me that as soon as I'm able to, it's mine. One downside to being in the military, no firearms in the barracks, they have to be stored in the unit arms room (fuck that noise)

Soon as I get out of the military (or I guess if I get married and move out of the barracks) that revolver is mine.

Sweet man, a true heirloom quality firearm right there. Something to pass on to your children.

My dads got an old winchester pump action .22 I'll be inheriting. Made in 1953, its no colt but its got sentimental value out the ass. Lots of firsts with that old gun.

Yeah for sure, my dad's had it since I was a kid, but never fired it (he had another, same kind that he sold a while back and liked it enough to buy another ) I got to put the first round through this one.

Wish my dad was this cool. I am fairly certain my dad has never held a gun. let alone shot one. My uncle just picked up an old .22 pump with an octagon barrel at auction for $300. Took it to a gun shop and they ran the numbers and said it was valued at $1400. shoots like a dream.

Beyond a Rossi reproduction jump on ANY pump .22 at $300 or less. The winchesters especially bring a premium.

You got into firearms independently? My father introduced then to me as well. Guess I should consider myself fortunate.

    Jesus fuck .

Colt collectors would go NUTS for a nib one since thy haven't been made in 20+ years.

I'm weary of new colts. I owned a "colt rail gun" .22 modeled after the 1911. Was a total piece of shit , come to find out it was made by umarex (a fucking airsoft maker) licensed by colt.

Even if they didn't make it they put their name on it, and to me that's poor business.

This is off topic, but if anyone is interested in going to Frontsight firearms training institute contact me, I invested in extra memberships years ago but never sold them. They have an excellent program and instruction, both on the range and in lecture. The moral issues associated with when/if to shoot are always interesting. I improved my defensive shooting a lot.

Probably last bit of modding I'll do to the AK. Added a Midwest side rail, an aimpoint M4 replica (got an eotech on the way) and a cheap cheek riser.

Boresighted it today, plan on shooting tomorrow come hell or high water.

I would love to be a firearm owner if I lived in the states. The only thing I really dislike though and genuinely am perplexed by the mentality of those who claim they need a fully automatic rifle for 'home defence'.

I don't think a fully automatic weapon is necessary for home defense, but I think there is a compelling argument as to why they should be be owned.

I'm absolutely for individual liberty and the right to self defense.

I don't own anything yet but my dad has a decent collection. At least a few long rifles, shot guns, handguns, etc.

I've mostly trained with a Springfield xd 40 because it's what I'd be carrying. Quick and accurate defensive shooting from concealment. A bit of tactical movement including inside buildings and at night with a flashlight. Also like I said assessing situations and stuff like quickly taking care of jams. I ended up getting distinguished expert at from frontsight in defensive handgun class. Since I have a lifetime membership I'll be back for a tactical class which is pretty sweet. Movement in groups, improving general skills, more offensive tactics. Running realistic scenarios inside a 'house' with targets. They'll give you a situation like you just came home in the middle of the night and you hear screaming from upstairs. Once you move through they'll tell you that your daughter is screaming from the bedroom and you have to figure out how to properly react. There might be a couple people in the house you have no idea. Youll get put on the spot and likely mess up, it'd good practice for the real thing. Then from there they do more scenarios with basically paint rounds. They modify your handgun to shoot paint and then run it through differently with other people from your class acting as the criminals or you'll do a 1v3 firefight in a dark tunnel. It's really excellent training.

Once I finish tactical handgun I have plans to take defensive shotgun and then some other courses. They have defensive driving with firearms, sub machine guns, long rifle, etc. Each class once you graduate as distinguished you can step up to tactical which like I said is more offensive, in groups, in more complicated situations with more advanced tactics.

All of it comes with lectures on the moral and legal implications.

So to answer your question yeah I shoot pretty proficiently and often.

Not just anyone can own a fully weapon, you have to pay an outrageous tax stamp and apply forca class 3 license. All in all you're looking at $4000+ and a LOT of legal redtape.

I know a few people with class 3, not one of them use their weapons for home defense.. I've literally never heard of that.

The best home defense always has been and always with be IMO a pump action shotgun.

I come across some 'Alex Jones' types on forums before.
What would you personally and legally say is the requirement for a class weapon besides leisure?

The legal requirements are pretty lengthy, the whole process takes upwards of a year.

Aside from training with your duty weapon (military, police Ect) I can't really see a legal reason to apply for one OTHER than say leisure.

Can't think of any animals pests included you can hunt full auto, most ranges don't allow full auto Ect.

Seems like a cool idea and all but getting a class III is essentially an invite to the ATF to stop by your house periodically. They make "slide fire" stock that allows you to essentially shoot full auto with nothing but a swap of the rear stock for around $100, they are cool but not quite as controllable. https://www.bumpfiresystems.com/

TL;DR Class III isn't worth it.

OK. Jumping into AR world. Just bought a matrix forged lower and some magpul furniture...

Got the upper, bch and 1:9 twist 16" barrel on order later this week.. Boning up on my AR knowledge as this will he my first "real" build (my real first was a complete upper and lower I pinned).

    Any advice guys??

Ended up going with a 16" wylde chambered moly lined barrel. Geiselle 2 stage trigger (got used from a friend for $100!!) Matrix bch and guts on the upper. Saved $75 assembling the upper myself, the lower was already completely assembled save the buffertube and stock.

I went with a carbine 7" magpul handguard and a UTG railed gasblock. My eotech finally came.. I'm excited! Got it boresighted, ready to zero in. I can already tell I'm going to want a 2-3x magnifier.
