Personal Info about you

So....I recently was trying to confirm a bank account linked to my Paypal. Obviously theres the normal method where they deposit a small amount and then you confirm the dollar amount on your paypal.

However, they have another method where you can try once to do it instantly over the phone. It was a bit weird...The customer service person asks you some random questions like which county are you in...where have you previously visited...what is your zipcode. None of these are questions previously set. They said its from like a personal info database in order to confirm identity. I moved a bit so I guess I answered one or 2 wrong or something but Paypal customer service hung up on me LOL.

Does this sort of database exist? Just random information about yourself? How does paypal get a hold of this?

Lol there isn't any location history about me. What does this track you with?

 

Google gps tracks where you go when you're logged into their services whenever they can unless you opt out. There were like 3 weeks for me that showed literally everywhere I went.

 

Does PayPal have your social security number? If so, then that's how. It's all relevant to your credit history.

It doesn't, which makes it even weirder...... I mean..it has some other personal info but nothing like that

I was actually gunna ask whether I should be concerned that I didn't answer their questions right. Like one of the questions was which one of the following cities do you not associate/familiar with, but 2 out of the 3 cities I've never been to and the 3rd is not someplace I go alot lol

 

If they have access to certain risk management websites they can vv your p# in their system and use it to pull personal information such as address/dob/etc.

I didn't even know a method like this exists on PayPal. You sure they hung up on you though haha?

 

All that information does exist. We use it when we open accounts for people where i work.

There are a few systems that log your information in the US.

One being KIQ which is the one that companies use when they need to authenticate you, they usually say something like this "I'm going to ask you a few questions pertaining to public information"

And then they proceed to ask you a question like "Have you ever had a mortgage with any of these companies "?

Theres also qualifile and chexsystems, each used for there own separate reasons.

 

Did you know iPhones do that too..... That's how your girl can keep tabs on your side hoe.... (Settings, Privacy, Location Services, System Services, Frequent Locations...)

But I've never heard of PP doing that to verify an account... Used to only be bank account deposits. I've had to call them to reset a password before and they ask those questions.

PayPal hung up on me once when I rang to ask about a transaction that didn't appear on my bank history, but on PayPals and they hung up in the first 2 minutes. I was like lol wut?

 

Never heard of that. I would've confirmed my bank accounts through the phone if I had known. The wait for the small deposits can be annoying. Could it be that it is for US account only? I'm Canadian and I would've seen it if it were there.

 

the phone thing isnt on the internet. I think its only through customer service. However, they now do have a newish instant confirmation program where u just log into your bank and answer security questions. However, its kind of glitchy and doesnt always work
