Would you like to know when youre going to die?

Death is inevitable, Everyone knows that.
But if there was a way of finding out exactly when it is going to happen to you, would you want to know?

Would you like to be able to prepare for your own death? Spend your last days with your loved ones?

Or would it be worse knowing when it's going to happen? Counting down the days, Thinking about how every time you go to sleep at night the day is getting closer.

Personally I would not like to know, I don't really have a reason.

Hell no lol. You shouldn't need a reason to spend time with people who are important.

 

Say you have a job working long hours so you can barely spend time with your family. In that case would you like to know?

 

I'm not quite sure... There are valid pros and cons for each side.

If you were to know, you could prepare for it, and leave things in some kind or order before you died.
However, you might also worry about it, and that could stress you out.

Also, I feel as if spending time with people you care about just because you know you won't get the chance to do it later devalues the purpose.
You're not spending time with them because you WANT to at that juncture, but instead you're spending time with them out of fear.

 

I'd like to know, but only if my death is atleast 50 years away.

No of course not it would drive me crazy. How can one honestly live a normal life knowing they are going to die at point X?

 

I disagree. There is nothing wrong with spending time with the people you care about before you pass away, even under those circumstances. I rather die knowing my last memories are me spending time with those I care about, than dying unexpectedly with undesirable memories of last encounters. I think anyone who dies unexpectedly would wish the same.

 

Duh I'd like to know, but I'm leaning towards the fact that we'll be where we were when we weren't born - nowhere haha

 

You've got to weigh up the pro's and con's of the idea.

Though this is just hypothetical, I can be hypothetical for the right reasons.

If I was to find out I'll die at 55 in a car accident per say. I'd like to know I can retire few years earlier, travel and do other things. However, if I was unaware of that fact then died at 55 having worked like a slave up to the point and missed out on valuable time I could've spent with family and friends.

However, if I found out I'm to die at 26 ( a years time ) I'm never going to be able to live my last year happy. I would be worried sick how my family will cope afterwards.

So really, I think it's wiser to know and heartbreaking at the same time. So I'd probably go with the wiser choice and find out.

 

No, purely because it'd force me to do stuff. Imagine if you only knew you had 10 days left on this world, you'd try and do everything you wanted in a short amount of time, therefore not enjoying it as much. I follow the 'live life as it comes' theory, where if you do things at the right time and enjoy yourself you'll be able to look back in the future and realise how much fun you had.

 

Actually wouldn't you enjoy it more? Knowing you're dying in 10 days would make me speed up and rush and do whatever I already couldn't have. If I didn't know I was dying in 10 days I'd probably follow my same routine of waking up, going to school and hitting the gym shortly after and not giving a care about what I'm doing on the weekend except for the usual things.

Gimme a 10 day notice? Oh i'm going to the beach, telling off people who have done wrong with me, taking all the drugs I've never experienced before (aka all of them) and living life till 10 days ends.

 

You could be hit by a truck tomorrow, who says you will be alive in 10 days? Just sayin'.

 

Not at all, death is a part of life and when it happens, it happens. I don't need to prepare, I already am.

If you need to change aspects of your life because you're suddenly aware of you're death, you're not enjoying it. You are not living life. You don't know when you're going to die. In all likeliness, the day you're going to die, you'll wake up thinking you're going to live.

Planning for the future is good and all, but don't be so caught up in the future you can't live in the now. I for one (now) refuse to do anything that makes me miserable, uncomfortable, whatever. I enjoy whatever it is I do.

I think of death as just another stage in life... I am a devout Christian btw..

I'm not going to change this to religion however, that is what I believe in.

Also.. If you live like today would be your last day... Then it would not matter if you happen to have 10 days left to live.. Live life to your fullest.. Death can be a scary thing, all of your loved ones lose you.. but you lose all of them.. I bet it is one of the hardest yet comforting things that you will ever have to go through.. I don't fear death and none of you should.. you should accept it and that is it. Don't obsess over it and don't go out and be like "I hate my life, I'll kill myself!" Life is a gift for you to enjoy.. so enjoy it!

It doesn't really matter to me to find out when I would pass on.

 

Do you remember where you were at 2 years old?
Probably not.
Maybe there was life before the life you know but you just don't remember.

So scary to think about for me, Like how it's the same as talking for the first time, walking for the first time, having a first kiss etc.
