Free to Play coming to 07, thoughts?

So free to play is going to be released on 07, what do you guys think?

Do you expect to see an increase in the overall oldschool runescape player base in the long term? In my opinion I see this as a great update for the game. Jagex have finally taken a step into making it just how it was in the 'golden era' of runescape.

Expound.

 

It's about time they brought this update. I honestly have know idea why they made it a 14day free trial then you would have to pay after that. That was the stupidest thing ever.

 

Guess it was just to give some skeptical players a "glimpse" of the game. Get them hooked and force them to pay membership. Quality marketing strategy in my opinion.

 

Imo 2nd best thing to happen to posts, besides ge.

 

Love it, more people starting oldschool (possibly coming back) and it will also expand the current f2p pking scene. Been thinking about making one of those 40 attack pures, used to love pking on those back in the day.

 

F2p is needed, I'm excited and I expect a small boom its all positive

Hell yeah those were the days. Rune scimitar to Rune 2h pking was fun, everyone wearing monk and risking gp.

Game really isn't truly F2P when you have things like restrictions on staking. IMO everything in F2P should work perfectly except for when you try and leave the F2P areas you get a notification about becoming a member. Maybe the same when you click a members skill, and pushing it a bit more on the website.

 

It should have been full f2p from the time of 07 release. Huge mistake by Jagex.
The restrictions they are implementing are pretty shitty too, don't see a major rise in players coming.

 

It's awesome, but why didn't they make it before?

 

It would cost them to keep the servers running for free. Based on the graph and overall presentation of the idea, it's clear that they didn't have a definitive answer that shows free to play would make them significant profit. Because of that doubt, they threw bonds in the mix which cancels out that doubt since 25% of oldschool players currently use bonds to extend their membership.

OT: I'm glad they're bringing it back. It helps the whole game economically, and will boost the activity of sythe somewhat.

 

Definitely. More players = More participation in the RWT market/blackmarket

 

This creates a botting problem but at the moment Jamflex are really good at 'cutting' down on those yew bots

 

this is a really good thing imo, but tbh the best thing would be to advertise oldschool on the main page of rs, like the play button should be split into two parts: rs2 (renamed oldschool) and rs3

 

So jamflex is getting back to the oldschool? This sounds somewhat of a call for help imho.

 

I think its a great idea to make the community bigger.
