Actually there is. Microsoft is also working on a 128 bit operating system right now. A bit is 8 bytes, and it's how many chunks the data is processed in.
There are operating systems in x32 bit, x64 bit and x86 bit. You can find this information anywhere online as well. The current standard for PC's is x64.

Before you get your knickers in a twist Have you ever been on Microsofts software site? It's called TechNet. I have. They have Windows 8 x86 bit operating systems that you can download as .ISO files. I know this because it was the reason I was gone for several years. Don't come at me with your hate comments as if this is a playground. I never said x86 wasn't a different version of x32. Matter of fact I never even said anything to be specific other than the fact that Microsoft does indeed have x86 operating systems. I have a disc of one in my room. I'm not sure if they released it to the public for general use as x32 was first and x64 is standard now. But they do indeed have them.

Edit: I'm here to answer general questions and help people with what I know. I don't need some wannabe know it all calling me a dumbass for no relevant reason.

You do realise that x86 doesn't refer to how many bits are in the architecture whatsoever, right? I don't need to go to MS TechNet - I've been working with Linux since I was 12 and the first processor I ever used was 16 bit. I also frequently work with 8 bit MCUs, my first computer I actually owned was 32 bit and my current is 64. 86 isn't even a power of 2, lol.

Regardless of that extremely irrelevant information my point still stands. The dumbass wasn't needed and is ignorant. You don't know me enough to call me out of my name. I never gave false information, I simply stated that there are 8 bits in a byte, and the computer processes in chunks. I'm here for the modern technology people who have gaming or general computer questions. Why do you think I specifically left out Linux/Mac and coding? I don't study it and I don't know it. I dislike the products they make and choose not to waste my time on it. I won't answer something I don't know. Im not ''faking'' anything. When did I say I was a tech genius? Right... never did.

Edit: as for Linux, I don't dislike all the products people make. I meant that towards Mac products not Linux. I know of Mac and Linux and what they're used for but like I said, im not a tech genius. Im here to answer questions from people who need or want help.

The "dumbass" wasn't ignorant, it was aimed at you insisting that there are 86-bit processors, which is a load of tripe. x86 is an architecture, not a count of bits. You'll often see i386 in reference to x86 and amd64 in reference to x64. It's easily confusable because x64 tends to refer to 64-bit processor architecture, but the fact stands that x86 generally refers to 32-bit processor architecture. Read the article I linked.

Lastly, you are faking it because you're trying to offer advice but you've just admitted you don't really know.

By the way, a simple "dumbass" is nothing compared to the flak you'd get if you posted this on a forum dedicated to computing. Chill out.

DID YOU EVEN READ MY POSTS MY GOD UR SO IGNORANT. I never said there was a ''processor'' in x86 bit. You're taking this thread way too wrong. You clearly didn't read the beginning of it and if you did you didn't comprehend it.
    Let me set you straight
    1.
The computer being 32/64/86 refers to the operating system it's running on
    2.
Notice how he said ''86 bit system'' referring my reply to an operating system
    3.
Notice how yet again, I don't ever say processor I say operating system. I never said x86 was or wasn't an architecture. I specifically referred all of this to OPERATING SYSTEMS.
So please, get out of here and stop trolling me with your nonsense. If you dislike what I'm doing then just leave, don't cry about it and insult me.

Dear fucking God, you're cracking me up man.

A 32-bit operating system is designed to run on 32-bit (i.e. i386 / x86) processor architecture. A 64 bit operating system is designed to run on a 64-bit processor architecture (i.e. amd64 / x64). By saying "n-bit operating system" you are in fact referring to the processor architecture the operating system was designed to run on. Now, who's the ignorant one?

Basically, there is no "86-bit". Stop pretending.

I find it funny how you said ''basically'' ''there is no 86-bit''. Not so sure of yourself there bud? I wasn't speaking in literal terms, that shows how you don't know anything about me. You take something someone says out of context and proceed to insult and harass them. Stop posting on my thread and go find someone else to bully to fit your massive ego.

"Basically" was being used as a segway to bring the flow back to the original problem. I have no idea how you translated that in to me being unsure of myself. You're stabbing at air, I see.

I also don't see how I've been taking you out of context. Everything I've said this entire time has been entirely relevant. It appears you value your pride more than your ability to admit your mistakes, else this would not have gone past SASRT8's original mockery (which, if you knew anything about computer architecture you'd understand, is quite justified).

As for being "insulting" and "harassing", "dumbass" is hardly the worst thing I could have said. Get over it.

    /thread.

So you go around treating people like shit ''just because you can'' please leave the community. You don't have a positive influence on this thread, you've done nothing but try to ''show your muscles''. I'm here to help people, why are you here? Anymore harassment and I'm reporting you. Any irrelevant posts made that don't pertain to the topic of this thread will be reported. Have a good day.

On the contrary, I've already reported this thread and requested it to be locked.

You claim not to have studied this, but you "know enough". I have studied computers for almost half of my life, and from what I've seen of him SASRT8 also knows a lot about them. Sincerely, from the perspective of those of us who actually know about this stuff, you look like a fool. Even if you have good intentions, you shouldn't offer advice if you don't actually know - especially considering that little point about selling such advice at the end of your thread.

I'm not actually "showing my muscles" or harassing you either. You egotistically refused to accept a correction. Admittedly though, the main reason I'm replying is because I'm bored and this is all rather funny.

Did you even read the rules of Sythe.org? Here let me quote something for you

I'm not in the wrong in any way for having this thread. I know more than enough and i'm willing to learn if I don't. I have sources I can use to find things out to help people. I don't need to have spent my life studying computers to open a help thread.

I am well aware of the rules. You may notice I used to be a moderator of this site - first of this section actually, before being promoted to global. I retired because I got bored of enforcing them.

I'm not actually breaking any of them. I've chided you, but I have not harassed you. I used one insult in doing so after you made a fool of yourself, which is honestly nothing. If you're honestly still hurt about being called a "dumbass", then fine - I apologise.

Edit: Man, you know how to make someone feel old. Just realised I've been a part of Sythe for 8 years now.

Cool. I don't care who you are. You don't have the right to insult someone. It's your opinion that I made a fool of myself, I'm not required to have a masters degree to make a thread so please stop trying to falsely justify your actions. What's it to you if I'm insulted or butthurt? Clearly that was your goal by calling me out of my name. Act your age not your shoe size.

If you can't stand being called a dumbass on the internet, then I suggest you get off the internet.

Rebuking someone for being wrong is not an injustice. Deal with it.
