    Thoughts?

Also quick question - someone online is selling 16GB HyperX Blu RAM for around 100$ (can probably get for 80$) would it worth me buying that instead of going 8GB new?

I'm not a super gamer by any means, but I want really quick browsing capabilities/youtube/music + ability to play most games as I want to get into Steam.

    edit: all built now! https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/MwJV3C

I'd drop the AMD CPU and go for an i5 in the same price range (Quad core with hyperthreading is faster than 8 core, since most applications outside editing use 4 cores max).

As SuF said, with memory, capacity > Speed. There's a linus tech tips video somewhere on this. Super high speed memory made maybe a 1-2 FPS difference. Keep to CAS 9 or 10 and you're good.

GTX 750. No. No. Never. NEVER buy a low/mid ranged GPU card. Its a waste of money Price:performance. 770 min, drop back to the 6th gen and get a 680, or maybe look at the red team? Dunno what the prices on the 290/280 are.

That PSU doesn't leave you much room for expansion, just something to keep in mind.

An if you're going to pay $700 for a computer, why not pony up the extra $30 to get a blu-ray reader. You'll be loving it later when you upgrade your display and are watching avatar on a 1440p curved screen.

EDIT: If you're really just looking for a decent machine, and don't want to spend a lot of money, take a look at:
    http://www.amazon.com/HP-17-f004dx-...7-f004dx&pebp=1422720631907&peasin=B00QQR2UG8

Its been in my cart for 3 days now. So tempted when i get paid...

Thanks for the reply - I can't seem to find a motherboard on the PCpartspicker site that has the onboard wireless that is compatible with my current set up.

Edit: this is what I came up with for now:

    http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/ArdyC/saved/LKZj4D

Again, I don't see a motherboard with Wifi built in. That would be fantastic as I do think I may use wifi for first while until we rewire the router location, etc.

A quadcore i5 does not have hyperthreading. Only dual core i5's.

I'd also bump your video card to at least a 270x. I ran with a dual 660ti's for a while and I know that I didn't feel the best performance with one running. I find it imperative to have good graphics because you will always want to play games without a hitch.

Look into the 970. It's near the top for the best value:performance.

Yeah that GPU mentioned above is a bit above my price range. If the GTX 750 isn't a good option I'm open to looking at options within 50$ or so. I really don't want/need to push this computer into the 1000$ range. I want something that can play most games without problems. I do not need to be able to play on Super High/Ultra/Very High graphic settings.

Most of my time spent online is minor things that I just want the quickness while multitasking. I'd just like the capability to play some games here and there if I ever choose to move into more gaming.

If it comes to it in some time and I really take on PC gaming I can always upgrade later, no?

Just a quick tidbit on GPU's. They are numbered for a reason, and its not 710 > 690.

For Nvidia, the 1st digit is the generation number, the second digit is the performance number, and the third is a minor update. A Ti version is a performance boost that doesn't warrant a new generation. 680 = Gen 6, 8 means highest performance (single card), 0 means no minor revisions.

    Gtx 795Ti would mean = 7th generation, 9 (means 2 GPU's on one card), 5 means minor revision. Ti means its just faster than a base 795. (P.s. I know there isn't a 795Ti)

For the red team, same deal. Older cards, first two digits are the generation number, 3rd digit is performance number, 4th digit is the revision number.

For the newer AMD cards, it is simply 280 < 290. The X means a speed boost.

Older high end always beats newer mid grade. So, a 680 more than likely beats a 750.

Also something to keep in mind, AMD has their Mantle API competing with DirectX. And no one knows where that's going to go yet (Works GREAT with BF4)

So been talking with someone online who closed up his shop and is trying to sell off his excess parts and he's offered me the following deal:

AMD FX 6300 (new in packaging)
Kingston 16Gb (2x8Gb) HyperX Blue Kit RAM kit new in packaging
Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB - still in package

All for 280$ Canadian. Seem like a good deal?

Calm down brosef. No need to get your panties in a wad. There is no stated budget. Furthermore, the difference from a 750 to a 970 is anything but "little". By most benchmarks, the card is literately 2.6x faster in every aspect, more in other areas (did you even click the links I put in the post). Just to return the favor, the fuck are you on about? There is no such thing as a am3+ motherboard with wifi built into it. Get a 10$ rosewill wireless card. Fuck off troll.

Now, back to being offering constructive suggestions and being civilized...

The 750 isn't a "bad" card. It's just not a "good" card. It's at best a medium level card.

If you want a 100$ card, get the 750. If you want a 150$ card, get the amd r9 270... There are no other cards that will offer better price : performance ratio than those two.

This forum needs an upvote button. Honestly. Or a like button. Or a "Here's a cookie" button. Or something.

I'm currently running on a single GTX750 and I'm very pleased with its performance. Definitely a card to go for at its price range.

Get the am3+ wifi board, Drento. It'll save you some money. https://tr.im/YQO5G << there's your link to get one.

I never mentioned a 5000$ build. I would never recommend anything near a 5000$ build. You're being stupid.

Even then, you suggest getting a wifi board. Lets, for a moment, disregard that there aren't any am3+ wifi motherboards, and imagine him getting an intel one (maybe he'll just push the amd chip real hard into the ram slot to get it to work right). Even the intel ones with wifi cost -a lot- more than a regular board and a pci wireless card combined. A lot being 200-500$ (more than the 970 graphics card lol). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132117 << about as cheap as it gets unless you get a mini itx.

Lol, and then you crucify me for doing the same thing. HURR DURR. So yeah, maybe a 5000$ build is what we're both recommending. We're on the same page, SuF. ^5

I hate it when people try to argue, especially when they're completely and utterly wrong.

I'll leave you guys to it. Go for it Drento, take their advice... lol

    Go wild.

PS: Swan, that's a lovely shade of brown you have on your nose. ;)

Not going to pretend SuF and I are buddies as we've never really talked much, but I've been around the forum to know him well enough. Not really needing to asslick given I've knocked back moderator positions in the past though.

I don't know Drento very well, but I highly doubt he needs an unlocked CPU with an over clocking oriented motherboard given his budget and from the general feel of listening to the guy, I doubt that's of much interest to him, correct me if I'm wrong.

Regardless, you've got some decent parts put together, but I will agree that if you wanted something with vastly more power than the 750 I would go 970 NOW while the prices have crashed to around 200 in some places. I have a 750ti that I picked up solely as a physx card to run alongside my 980. I've only actually used it for games a few times, but I will give you my opinion of it: its a great card for older games and plays some modern games surprisingly well considering its low power usage. But ass creed unity, watch dogs, bf4, and even the ol Witcher 2 absolutely massacre this card. And my 2gb 750 ti is a step above your Potential 750.
What I'm getting at, in essence, is that you should place heavy consideration on which games you will actually play.

Okay new concept - I don't game much on my PC I just want really strong specs that leave me capable of upgrading in the future + fast browsing/Youtubing/downloading, small games (RS/Age of Empires). So what I did was add an APU instead of the conventional CPU and priced it out without a video card (for now) until I choose to upgrade in future.

With that in mind take a look at my new build idea:
