    Should I wait?

I'm going to be building my second gaming rig. Sold my first one, awhile back but I'm building another soon. My problem is, with the 980 now being the flagship card, my last build had a 780ti in it, but I'm not sure if I should wait around for the 980ti to release or just go for two 980's.

Does anyone know when they will drop, and if the performance ratio between the two will be a massive difference?

No one can offer more than speculation on that.

Personally I say just go with what is available, because there is always something new coming out in the near future.

Personally, if i was to build a new rig, as far a GPU's go, i'd throw in 780ti's.

As the 980 is just a 780ti with better power management, and you can usually catch 780's cheaper than 980's.

Darkest Dream's right: there's always going to be something newer and better to wait for, so just go with what's current and upgrade when you need to rather than when a new model is out.

A single 980 will last you a long time. The 8gb 980 is just around the corner, if you're gonna ng with a 980 setup I would at least wait for that. Next gen AMD cards are expected in April, and are expected to dominate the 980 up to around 30% in some scenarios. I don't have high expectations for next gen Maxwell (gm200) GPUs to come any time soon, so don't get your hopes up on a 980ti. More likely, GM 200 will be released in a titan variant with a full ROP & shader count

Personally if I were you, I'd pick up another 780ti. You're not gaining much by going 980.
