I don't think it'll ever go as far as pre-EOC did. They've lost so many players because of those updates and they won't want to make the same mistakes again.

Kinda off topic but I saw Swaggernaut post about them polling EoC. Would be really funny if they did that on April Fools day.

The game needs updating but it needs fresh updates, I'm 117 combat with 3 combat 99s on runescape so I play enough to know (never botted). GE is an update I'm against but there does need to be progression with the game, I mean who's gonna want to play a game that's 8 years behind it's counterpart and has 0 updates and stays the same. The only players that we'd have would be vets who refuse to quit and no new blood, either the game moves on and we accept it or the game stays as it is and we lose it within 2 years.

Depends on what content they were to copy and paste. :)

Content that is in the spirit of Rs3 (content that as you said, caters to laziness) is deplorable and very much unneeded in my opinion.

GE was honestly shocking to me that it was voted to be submerged into what is allegedly supposed to be "Classical Runescape", from the old days. Though I don't think it will be a major problem I am not excited for the negative repercussions that come with it. All of the productions skills will now be effectively useless with the GE, which is very sad to me because in "Classical Runescape" this was not the case and I think it is against the spirit of the game and really anti OSRS-esque.

However I still vigorously enjoyed Runescape from 2007-2010 and I wouldn't completely decry updates that lead the game toward that direction (as long as they modernize the game NO FURTHER than around late 2009/early2010).

Though updates in that direction still go against the grounds on which I thought "Oldschool" Runescape was originally entrenched on. I thought it was originally build on the grounds that it would be a server that is based on how the game was in August 2007. I realized it would receive updates, but I thought that the updates it received would only be 2003-2007 esque...

When you characterize "oldschool" runescape, you don't by definition think of the GE. Therefore it was not really an OSRS-esque update, imo atleast. Though like I said, not a problem as long as the GE update does not stand open as a gateway towards RS3-esque /game facilitation updates that make the game easier to play or offer microtransaction advantages.

We don't want updates that are pragmatic (as you said), we want things how they were - with updates that are oriented around the same mindset 2003-2007esque :)
