Gauging Interest (Sythe FriendsChat)

That's what I was thinking. They aren't going to ban us without proof.

 

I think it would be alot more popular than IRC or sythechat

This reminds me of the powerbot clan wars event. They banned everyone at the event, but there was no way to tie all those people to botting at that very moment (they did it off impulse). It's the same idea here with the substitute of RWT. They couldn't tie us to RWTing, but they can ban us with the intent of doing so, which is somewhat plausible being as we're on this site. The odds of that happening are very low, yet probable.

How do you treat users who are banned on this site? Are they still allowed to join this cc? Will there be enough users to maintain the stability (keep away trolls and those who seek reprisal after being banned and kicked)?

These are just some problems I can see, however the odds of being banned are so low it may be worth a try if you care enough.

 

I was unaware PowerBot ever had such an event/everyone at the event was banned. I suppose the differences could be that Jagex scrutinized the accounts that attended the event and found that they had been botted. Alongside this, Powerbot is a community built around botting. Sythe while having RWT and such is also a community filled with legit players.

I'd say the chance of such a thing happening is miniscule and by miniscule, I mean close to none. There are other things to worry about than a few people sitting in a FC.

I could care less who joins the CC. Now if someone is openly discussing scamming/black hat shit, then I'd say they need to be removed.

This doesn't need to be nearly as complicated as it is being made out to be. It's simple, if there's a FC will people use it? If so, let's have one. If it doesn't get used, damn, whatever. Someone being a dick/overly annoying? Ban them.

Regarding the stability of users, I have no idea how many people would actually use the FC. IMO it would need to be promoted (preferably via signatures/threads); furthermore, events would likely need to happen every now and then to promote continued usage. Ex: A Drop party. With a drop party we could promote both on Sythe and RS and if things went well, the GP could be provided by FC sponsors.

 

Really not sure how Fagex will find our fc to begin with. If we keep the fc private; ie anyone wanting to know it will have to PM one of the Clan runners on Sythe; this way we wont have jagex on our case.

Remember people;

1. Jagex dont hunt rwt fcs
2. Nobody will be talking about rwt/botting etc
3. Its not like the fc will be named 'Sythe RWTers'
Therefore how're they going to know its us?

but there was normally at least 6 of us in there, was mostly 1 guy who was grinding the shit for 99 smithing

 

Personally nah, a good way to get everyone in the fc blanket banned.

Skype group would be the way to go.

 

Roary mentioned N4n0 ran an old 07 FC

After talking to people/feedback on the thread, if a FC were made, it wouldn't be posted on a thread. We would likely have a FC thread and then a user would need to PM someone to get the FC name. While not entirely difficult to do, it's better then posting the name for everyone to see (I was unaware bans related to FCs have actually occured.)

There would likely be some requirement to join (very basic, like 50 posts or something to get the FC name), that or I would just make it a "friend only" FC and I (or someone else) would need to be PM'd RSNs to add to a friend's list so people could join.

Also, if this were to happen, it's possible we would have a Runescape FC minirank for active FC users alongside a potential Sticky (already discussed this.)

@Darkest, it's just a different feel. It's not as easy to join, not everyone has a mic, talking with multiple can be chaotic and loud. Like people should definitely do Skype chats if they want, but I was involved in them in the past and I do not particularly care to be involved in one now.

 

Sure, I'd use it, but I think some rules should be put into place before people are added into the group. There should be no discussion of Sythe in the friends chat, and absolutely NO discussion about trades or users.

 

Great way to get everyone present banned. Great Idea, support.
