These were sniped/recovered names, do not buy!

 

Don't you need proof of the name being recovered/sniped to post something like this?

 

Yeah, put a link next to each name with a report. People can just get names on here just to spite others.

 

All these names were sniped off sellers an buyers here from sythe, im not gonna post a name that wasn't scammed or sniped to throw off users. This is to
prevent sniping/scamming then reselling after, it makes it fair to everyone that has been sniped from/scammed for names and to not let people get away with it.

 

But there is no proof and anyone could simply pretend a name was sniped off them to ruin someone else's business. In most cases, the sniper is unknown until they try to sell the name on Sythe. When they do, it's the true name owner's responsibility to report that person, providing adequate proof in their report. Putting up a thread like this is pretty much redundant. I'm sure this seemed like a great idea when it passed through your head, but maybe you should think of something else if you want a stickied thread that badly. Perhaps a thread for reporting sniped names right after the name is sniped?
i.e. "If your name was sniped, please post the details of the sniping here and provide adequate proof. If the proof provided can prove beyond doubt that the name was sniped, it will be added to the watchlist."
That kind of thing, rather than: "Post your sniped/recovered names here for it to be added to the list. No questions asked, put whatever names you feel like and it won't be sold on Sythe."

 

Could I suggest occasionally running them threw an alphabetizer (example: http://alphabetizer.flap.tv/ ...or word/notepad), just so it's easier to see if a certain name is on the list?

 

I don't think that's the problem at hand lol. Nonetheless, that would've been a rather good idea except for the fact that we can use Ctrl+F to find the name we're looking for.

 

Oh, I completely forgot about ctrl+f for some reason. It's not a problem lol.

 

Did this a while ago. I can tell you from experience that it won't work out. Names are always changing hands and it's nearly impossible to tell who the owner of a name is after a couple months have passed.

By the way, I personally think it's retarded for anyone to call a sniped name scammed. Anyone that snipes a name is going to sell it, and by trying to blacklist a sniped name you'll only be hurting the person that ends up buying it, not the seller.

While I do agree that sniping a name from a forum member should result in a ban, attempting to blacklist specific names that are inevitably going to be sold to others (and then sold again and again and again...) will only hurt the market.

Beautiful stuff lads, keep it coming. Lets just put names that belong to snipers that have never been sniped whatsoever (Woodcutting, Hiss) on this thread. Great job, glad to see the young'uns from the name release have made the Sythe name market a great place to buy names.

You tried. If you still want to get stickied, try putting up a thread where people can report names AS THEY GET SNIPED; where they can fill out a template to provide appropriate evidence, etc. That would be much more helpful. Not sure if this kind of thing could be player-run, though. Would probably need a Mod to look over the evidence before allowing a name to be blacklisted. And as you can see from several arguments above, blacklisted names could be sold discreetly to unknowing victims who would then find it hard to sell that name and regain their money. So maybe allow blacklisted names to expire after a period of time - say 1 year or so - so that any new owners of the name are able to re-sell the name and make their money back. Snipers will obviously take advantage of the expiry but it's better than letting the 'innocent' ones grieve over their losses.
