Need Advice (Just Hacked for 60m+)

Thanks for all input guys, I've run multiple more scans and found that my computer is clean. I wasn't phished; i am certain of that. I've enabled the authenticator and changed all details.
While I still cannot pinpoint the exact source, I've taken every possible step to ensure i'm safe.

I turn to you guys as I'm sure many of you guys have dealt with situations like this before.

I was just hacked on my main for 60m+ in cash and items.

Here is what I know:

1. I'm relatively inactive on RS (sign on once every few days to stake for a bit)

2. I had a Sythe user train on my iron man and this acc a few days ago. The iron man is untouched and I had just changed pass and told him the new one (with wealth on acc) when i realized OOPS i forgot to transfer. However, I politely asked him NOT to log on and I changed pass and logged off with money on acc and pass changed.

3.My computer is secure (to my knowledge: unless Norton is letting me down lol)

4. As far as I am aware of, the pass that I changed my main to (also the pass it was before changing for order) is secure.

5. This sucks.


From here, what can I do to find out HOW it happened, and how to PREVENT it in the future?

Please ask if I was unclear about anything.



EDIT: @Flamedog He was on my iron man, never on my main. I was logged into my main during the password changing process. I logged out with the money on my ACC and a fresh pass.

did you download any rs related software? "runescape ddoser" "item switcher" etc? if so that might be why you got hacked

Sorry to hear about your loss. You might want to try spybot search and destroy. It's free and works wonders. I hope you get everything secure.

I would maybe also try another anti-virus program just to make sure I am sorry that happened and to me I think you have two options, make the gold or buy the gold. I got hacked, my first day of free trade in 2011 for billions and I bought gold, obvs not that much then I kept just staking it away.... I never recommend staking, it hard to get over a hacking... But, just rebuild with patience

The only RS-related software I've used is Osbuddy and Tribot (only with verified scripts. Doubt it was one of those.

Furthermore, nobody was ever on my acc. I changed the pass and told it to him before realizing I didn't transfer my wealth. I remained logged on during the ENTIRE process of changing my pass back and logged out with the $ on the acc and a fresh pass he didn't know.

 

Bank pin doesn't guarantee that you will be safe but ofcourse it will help

 

You got hacked by that guy, there's no other way. Jagex Authenticator is the most beautiful thing ever. There's no physical way to get hacked with an authenticator unless you give them the code. It's the best thing to happen to account security since passwords.

 

So here are the (likely) options:
You got phished, you opened some email/link/etc. and logged into a site thinking it was RS

The guy who trained the other account/had password did it and somehow knew the info to the main, perhaps you mentioned it, perhaps he went through threads/posts, something (I'd say this is the likely option)

Downloaded some program for Runescape and while it may function, it's directed at stealing your account information.

 

Run a full scan again. That way you can be eased at mind. Otherwise, not much you can do.

if ur computer is safe, then u dont have to worry anymore, but dont click on fake links under youtube videos, most ppl fall for them
